or it's very useful backlight (the one on the Lite, I hear bad things about the other DS' light =P)?

The light on the original DS is just fine. I like my original DS better anyway. The only improvement that was made in the DS lite that I care about is the better stylus.

The dimmest setting on the DSLite is as bright as the brightest setting on the old DS. It really is a major improvement. Besides that, most of it was just a face lift. Given that they are the same price, go for the DSLite if the option arises, but I wouldn't trade in an old DS just for a DSLite.

The difference is big. The original DS is backlit like a watch. The DS Lite works more like an LCD monitor. Huge difference.

Whatever way the original DS works, it works just fine. I can see it, and I can see it well. It doesn't matter if you are in a normally lit room or if it is midnight and no lights are on; either way I can see it perfectly fine.

The only time I cannot see the screen on the DS just fine is when I am outside and the sun is glaring off of it at the wrong angle, but that's not the fault of the DS since it happens to everything, even my television set.

But the DSLite does much better in highly lit areas. I was traveling with my brother a few days ago, I had no problems seeing the DSLite screen in his car with the top down(at around 12:00). However, like I said in my other post, it isn't something worth paying extra for, just better if the choice comes up.

Sorry for bringing a dead topic, but this needs clarification. The DS Lite's graphics aren't simply a minor upgrade. It's like a backlit watch compared to an LCD display. Litteraly.

Take away the scale-lines from the picture and you have a large difference:

That's a pretty impressive difference. I think Louwijk's point was more along the lines of it being unnecessary than it being minor. That's much better but it's not a reason to scrap your original DS and go buy a Lite.
Although after seeing your pictures I do find myself trying to justify buying a second DS. =P

As you can see by that image, the colors are really nice. I highly recommend the DS Lite over the original. I have yet to see a problem with my DS Lite.

Yea the DS lite is well.. lighter than the normal DS which i have but really if you have the normal one there would be no point switching.

Go for the DS lite if anything.
In response to SSJ2GohanDBGT
Yeah, that is a difference, but I'm fine with the normal DS. Though the only light modes it has is "Not so bright" and "Night, I'm off to sleep you stupid punter" (Can't see nothing)
In response to Loduwijk
the ds lite is also lighter in weight. Which to me, is a big deal in prolonged exposure to the system. I like knowing I might not get wrist problems when I can't place the system down somewhere to play.

Yeah, given any choice the DS Lite is the better pick. I was slightly upset because my Lite's speakers aren't nearly as good as my regular DS. Given the choice, I'd still pick the lite. Headphones can fix the speaker problem, you can't fix the image problem on a normal DS.
In response to SSJ2GohanDBGT
I bet you i can fix the image on my normal ds

*trys to fit a spot light in his DS*
