That made me laugh, and then I thought 'man, that's kinda mean'...so I started laughing harder.

Then would it be fair to say the Wii is a Gamecube with a new controller. If not, why? =P

The difference being that GameCube backwards compatibility on the Wii actually works. ;)

I say the PS3 is a spiffy PS2, and the XBox 360 is really just a better XBox. Not because of the controller or console - because the games are nothing new, nothing better. I guess just the excitement of the Wiis new controls makes everything else seem... obsolete.

To be blunt, as far as I`m concerened they all suck. I`m a PC person. I`ll use them when I don`t have a choice or when I`m bord but I wont care enought to look into buying one. I think PCs are cheaper to run. Think you got like 3 years before you have to get a new one. PC your replace parts that cost nothing near. And you can get a older one of rcheaper and have it run modurn games. And a PS2 can`t run a PS3 game. But a older graphics card like the one I got runs pretty much everything I need.

Really? It's probably going to cost me upwards of $1000 AUD to upgrade my system to the point where it can run anything remotely modern - say, Oblivion, or NWN 2.

The Wii cost me $400 AUD.

I know which one is cheaper for me. But, I still wuv my computer, so it gets some playtime, too.
In response to Jp
Decent PCs are more expensive outright, for sure. On the other hand, I'd need a computer anyway, and I'd want it to be reasonably beefy even if I didn't play games on it - so it might work out a bit cheaper to just get the PC rather than a PC and a console. I haven't worked it out properly so I don't know for sure though.

Also, my living room is really not set up for gaming.

The only way the PC can play a game that isn't a PC game/BYOND game is through illegal methods.

Not necessarily. An emulator is entirely legal if it doesn't use code or hardware from an original of the system. Downloading a ROM off of the internet is, of course, illegal - making a ROM of a game you own for personal use only probably comes under fair use. Sticking a Playstation disc in a computer and running it with a Playstation emulator is entirely legal, as long as the PSX BIOS that the emulator uses is an original work or the BIOS of your home system that you dumped yourself.

I'm a little young for that, mate. I'm only 17. And I don't have any qualifications, nor am I a member of any legal group. I have no relation to the legal industry. I'm just a computer science student. :P

I don't know if personal use counts. You can make it yourself using a general reader (can't use one designed for games) as a backup though. Otherwise, http://www.consoleclassix.com would have been sued into oblivion by now. Nintendo knows about them, and they continue operating though.

Just look at VHS and Betamax. Betamax was technically better, but the consumers chose VHS because of the lower price.

About the Wii/PS3/360 debate, I didn't buy a Wii just because it was innovative (though that's always, ALWAYS welcome), I bought it because I know it'll have good exclusives, both currently announced and unannounced. With 360/PS3, the game selection is basically equal, plus almost every good game between them is on the PC. I say Wii and PC FTW.
In response to Hikki
Alot of that is wrong. The cost of a computer system to rival a PS3 would be -far- over $600 USD. Depending on the part, the upgrade could range from $50 to $800 (or more) depending on the type of computer. If you get a Geforce 8800 and it fails, you're not replacing it for cheap. Also, it would take a Geforce 8 series card to get close to the GPU on the PS3.

Anyhow, give me an idea. What series card do you have?

ATI 9250. They don`t even make them anymore. I run pretty much every game I want. Ecexpt Elder Scrolls games they want like the newest cards. I got the 9250 for $80 at the time. Its probly like $40 now. But I mean like $80-120 will get you a card that can last for for a long time.(Depending on what kind of games you play) But a concole will cost you like $300+. True at the begunning computers are more expenive depending on how good of one you really want. But they last alot longer as long as you don`t do anything stupid. And it has far more abitlies.
In response to Hikki
Most of the PC games that come out now will murder a 9250. Many of them stress my 6800XT well. I still play all of the games I want, but many of my games aren't new(Ultima Online, for instance).

Oh my, another fanboy. :(

Xbox360 just a xbox in a silver case? I didn't know the original xbox could let you play games in full 1080p, watch live television, and download music, trailers, and game demos over the marketplace. :|

Ps3 isn't a TOTAL waste of money, since i bought the 20gig version, which pretty much has all the features of the 60gig version, and Resistance: Fall of Man online is a blast too, i know it's really the only game worth playing for the ps3, but you can play 40 player online deathmatches for decades.

I`m not a fanboy. The concept looks insteresting, nothing more. A good step forward into elmost complete hand controls. Needs to be gloves with some sort of arm keypad would be better along the line I`m thinking. Lemme put it this way.

Concoles suck in my mind. I ended my conquest to have the newest one at Nintendo 64 and thats where the end stays. I`ll play concoles if theres no computer around. But The other concoles (PS3 & Xbox/360) are nothing more. There simple reasons for people to spend more money. PC have more abilitys, maybe not better graphics. But the plan and simple fact that you can do alot more with them then concoles is more than enough to make them worth their while.

And on the other hand. Most of the PC games are cheater if your willing to wait a little while. ^^

Wow...that had bad spelling.

I agree that games on the consoles are more graphically pleasing, they cannot compete with the almighty computer. The only reason I play consoles is that they don't make some of the games on the computer or that my crappy comp won't play it.
