Legends of Kronia is a free 2D MMORPG (Massively-Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game). Interact with players around the globe. Be a high level magic-user, the greatest warrior to ever set foot on the lands, or even master the flight of a dragon. Go on quest that can be found all over the worlds. The way you play the game is up to you. The fate of Kronia is in your hands! Whether you plan to be a player-killer, role-player, or just chatting with others, Kronia is your way to get away from the life you like to call "reality". Kronia was built using the Mirage gaming engine and has evolved a lot since first started in 2003. Kronia is constantly expanding by the day, introducing new items, worlds, spells, players, and quests.

That's the introduction they came up with, me, as a loyal player.. Unless you like 3D better, but me; I love 2D.. 2D ALL THE WAY!

Come on and stop buy!

Veiner: GIVE IT BACK!
Heh. Looks very BYOND-game-like, which is kinda a waste, it could've been writen in DM instead.

That and I don't see how the best 2D MMORPG wouldn't use original sprites.

It's written in Visual Basic 6 with their own Engine which is now part of PlayerWorlds called PWX.

Yes, they do use orginal Spirtes, but it's stilla whole lot of fun, and to my perspective [profanity is still not acceptable on the forums even if it is masked]!

Better than Endless Online which on those MMORPG top 100 sites it's at the top.. but I really not too fond of Endless Online..

Yes I have not seen the trees in various RPG Maker sets. I understand that every icon that I see in that screenshot is original!
I'll bet that sort of GUI will be possible in BYOND 4. =D

Agreed. Should have better graphics at the least..Omg, I'm becoming a graphics whore! :|
No, the best 2D MMORPG ever is, by far, Ultima Online. Arguing with that is just wrong.

Then I do not want to be right.

No, I am just kidding. That game is amazing. =P

We should also note how the "Best 2D MMORPG EVER!" has only three people online in the screenshot.

All I want is faster movement and an option for quick, non-tile based movement.

Shooters, platformers... you name it, it could happen!

Heck, if that happened, even raycasting could occur!

None of the environmental graphics nor character sprites are original. They don't even come from the same source either, you can tell from the conflicting styles. :P

While UO is amazing, I have always held a very special place in my heart for Nexus: TK.

The playerbase is small enough (as in, not tens of thousands of people -- generally it's about 2000) that it's actually possible to be famous in the game. The community is really well established and there are subclasses that you can be that are designed specifically for roleplaying.

Pair these things along with monthly events put on by the GMs (pirates attacking, some sort of figure threatening the land) that often leave lasting marks on the world, and you have a game that you actually feel like you can do something to alter the game and leave a lasting mark on the already vast and rich history of the game.

Meh, I ran and played in private servers. With small player bases, and GM run events. One time I created a full capture the flag gauntlet game. It was great. I guess it is hard to consider private(And probably illegal) servers in how good a game really was, but I do.

I actually never played Nexus: TK (And have never heard of it). UO was pretty much the first MMORPG and wrote the book on monthly cost to play. It gets a lot of points for being the first. Just like Mario for the NES. Sure, it wasn't a particularly special game, to todays standards, but it still ranks in my top 100 games of all times. Now Super Mario World for SNES ranks in my top 10 and it isn't because of it being a classic. I have seen very few games I enjoyed to play more. Wait... I lost my point... Oh yea, I can understand that UO might not appeal to some people, and that another(of the few) 2D MMORPGs out there might have appealed to them more, but it doesn't knock UO off the "Best 2D MMORPG of all time" thing.
