Strangely enough, Swift's meaning in A Modest Proposal a minor point in a novella I'm writing. :P But anyway, I'm accustomed to running into teenagers (no idea how old Elation is, sorry) who, still having the luxury of clinging to a black-and-white worldview, actually do hold that or similar viewpoints on crime and punishment (younger folks are more likely than adults to clamor for harsh punishment for death even in self defense, for instance). If it was meant to be satirical, then my response was harsh... but at least it might prevent somebody from coming along, seeing Elly's post, going "Right on!" and moving past it without further reflection.

Your parents hold the insurance on the car. If their insurance company doesn't want to pay up, your parents will have to do so. Sure, they could force you to pay up, but if you don't have all of the money they'll still be forced to pay up the remainder.
