That isn't how you use WINE.
mark@mark-desktop:~$ wine C:\Program Files\BYOND\bin\byond.exe That's not right. It should be.. wine /home/mark/.wine/Program Files/BYOND/bin/byond.exe or something. Also, as to my knowledge you can't get BYOND working in the latest version of WINE; try the Linux Guild's tutorial. (I don't think the latest version of BYOND will work either.) Your not making things clear. Are you using WINE? Or are you using the Linux version?Yes isn't an answer. I would assume your using WINE. What WINE version do you have? That dosen't help, I need the EXACT version number. What kind of error happens when you try to open it the terminal?RUN it from the terminal. It seems you don't know enough about Linux to use WINE properly, read up on some console guides and get up on the linux lingo! |

Actually, I believe it is OK to call things that way. Wine automatically figures out what C is. It is how the shortcuts are called, if I am not mistaken.
I think the problem is the change in the way the site works. Now it launches DS using byond://, rather then having it run a small link file. What I recommend is that you install Firefox for Windows using wine, then find the games via it, and let Wine launch BYOND like windows normally would. |

Why install Firefox for Windows on Linux? There is a native Linux version, you know.

I couldn't get it to work; can you describe the steps you used? Which exact version you used, what steps you took, what version of BYOND, etc.

Because the way the BYOND links work it would be hard to setup them on Linux to function in Wine. If you had firefox, or most any browser, running under Wine, those links would be taken care of correctly.

Mmmm. That's true I guess. Still, I have to wonder if there isn't a better way to set it up. Firefox on Linux does support custom protocol handlers I believe.

I installed an older version of Firefox (1.5.0.11) so i could install it in wine. It called up the Pager but the DS will not start...I tried to re-install byond but no luck same results..

How did you install WINE?
What WINE version do you have?
What kind of error happens when you try to open it the terminal?
What kind of system specs do you have?
(we really need more information!)
