A burden of proof which is largely negated by the fact that we know that inhaling the ashes of other substances (including organic ones) is a significant cause of cancer, and the facts already stated about the likelihood of such cases going unreported.
The fact is that we just don't know whether marijuana smoking contributes to cancer, and until we find out it is more than reasonable to treat pot smoking with caution.

Psh, everyone knows that weed is illegal because people can grow it themselves at home in larger quantities and probably even cheaper than the government-supported sellers, meaning they won't make as much money thus they banned it (if we ain't gonna get any mojo, no flojo for you.... why I used mojo/flojo here, I don't know...) Explain how the production of illegal Marijuana would be any easier than the production of Tobacco, and I'll agree with you. As it stands, the government doesn't make moeny from growing the crop, they make their money on the sin taxes of alcohol and Tobacco. Legalizing Marijuana and sin taxing the product would make the government a bunch of money I'm sure, so there's obviously other reasons behind it being illegal. |

Okay, so why does the fact that something is unhealthy make it bad? Some people are willing to take risks and live a little. Well, hurting yourself is bad. No rocket science there. Hrm. You know, it seems to me that anti-drug agencies would jump on the chance to talk about marijuana-caused deaths, just like they do with every other drug. "We don't want kids to smoke pot, so we sure as HELL don't want to tell them about these people who died. That's just sending the wrong message." Really, what he was saying was that the media targets what's legal alot more than what's illegal. Much like how they target airplanes as being horrible constructors of death, when more people commonly die in car accidents. It sends much much of a "WOW" message if they show the statistics of deaths related to alcohol, than the deaths related to marijuana. Why? The government says it's okay to drink, but not okay to smoke marijuana. Thanks for, once again, telling me what it's okay to do with my body. I really don't know what the world would do without your infallible standards. Again, it's no real mystery that most of the food we eat today is horribly unhealthy and what he says has perfect merit. Eating McDonalds is pleasing to the taste buds but OBVIOUSLY unhealthy for you. You can do it all you like, but that doesn't make it good for you. |
Yeah. That'd be a good argument if it wasn't for the fact that the burden of proof rests on proving that it does.
