I was at a yard sale today and ran across a $5 dollar laptop. It runs on windows 3.1 never even heard of that. And yes it is very old. Its from the company digital and model: DECpc 325SL. Im trying to put this thing to good use. My question is if it will run be able to handle windows 98. If anyone knows, could you let me know.
No, according to the specs it's only 25Mhz with 4MB of memory. That's not enough to run Win98, or even Win95.

I don't think he could use that for more than basic word processing.

25mhz... Thats worse then I thought haha. I have one question then. What the hell were computers good for back then. The only useful thing i see on here is word.

And 4mb bites of memory... My flash drive holds 32 times more memory then that. Just shows how much technology has increased.

Software was written to be smaller and faster back then!

There are probably some DOS games that would work on that. Grab some old abandonware DOS games off the internet and chuck them on. (Commander Keen anyone?) Then at least you've got something to do when bored on journeys.

You need 16MB and 66Mhz-100Mhz to be able to play the best DOS games. Like Crusader: No Remorse. :)

No Nadrew!
I could get Windows Vista (with aero) and Half Life 2 to work on that! :)

Thats kind of a bad attitude. Commander Keen and Duke Nukem were really good platformers back in the day. A lot of the older DOS games actully ran off the floppy disk. Like my print of Bards Tale had a install disk and save disk and all sorts of stuff. Then again, we are talking about 5.5" floppy disks.

Aw, man. Those system requirements are crazily high! What were they thinking???

=P

Don't forget a freaking CD-Rom drive. Crusader No Remorse was a CD-Rom game. I still got it for Playstation somewhere. And I don't think that Laptop is going to have a CD-Rom drive on it.
