I recently downloaded thunderbird on my new computer and this is my first time using it but i can't figure out what my host server is because i check my email through hotmail
You need to pay like 15$ for a better hotmail service for it to work with mail clients.

Did you follow the instructions on this page?

Specifically, step 1 says: The first step is to check the WebMail extension is running. Go to the WebMail options, on the server panel the status of the three servers is displayed. The status for the enabled server(s) should be "Running".
