I won't place my money in Blu-Ray at all. It is almost as pointless as beta tapes. Sure, Blu-Ray media has more capacity, but really, why the hell would you need any more? To fit an extra hour of crappy behind the scenes footage?
And yeah, I am sure that they have an even better video quality to them then even HDDVD, but anyone who wants to take any true advantage of that is going to need a top of the line TV which is capable of even showing that level of detail, and I simply don't think that applies to the majority of the market. Blu-Ray is just another unneeded media format, in a industry that is already flooded with DVD and HDVD. Why would anyone shell out an extra $10 for a Blu-Ray dvd when they can buy almost the exact same movie on DVD for $20 or less?
I hate how the industry is trying to force more and more media down our throats. Besides using Blu-Ray for a game format, which obviously has it's own advantages I see no reason for Blu-Ray to ever even come close to replacing even the standard DVD format.
It is just like the damn government removing analog cable TV in 2009. It is simply ridiculous. They are going to be forcing me to pay extra money for a digital service I don't even want to begin with. Not to mention, most of us are going to end up being shafted when it comes to the converter box for those of us who have old ass TV sets. Yeah they said they were going to use like 5 Million dollars to give people digital converter boxes for analog TV sets, but there are so many people with these kinds of TV, that 5 million is going to be gone in a second and the rest of us, are going to have to PAY.
I may just end up stealing TV.

I have seen the future of discs through the gnarly wikipedia but trust me when I say the future is far from here. At this point, Blu-ray has the most capacity at this moment and the best video clarity. It costs way too much for a player but anyone willing to flesh out 600 bucks to be amazed when they see a movie will buy one.
HD-DVD, a good competitor will probably sell more initial units. However, looking at the past, I rationally place my money on the Blu-ray, at least, for the next five years or so.
Also, your comment wasn't relevant to anything anyone just said >_>
