I've recently been looking around for a wii, and it turns out that its soldout everywhere. So I've decided to buy one online - but I dont have that much experience online shopping. So can someone help me out with finding a good deal on a wii, maybe even a package deal with some games thrown in there.
you can find them on eBay now for decent prices. Most online stores are still only selling them in packages. Instead I suggest you go to your Walmart and EBgames every other day or so. Nintendo IS sending out normal shipments of systems to stores, but they are only like 1 or 2 systems per shipment.

Every other week I see a few stack of Wii over at my Walmart, I just don't feel like owning one, again.

I really dont feel like buying one used - and its a hassle to get to any decent game stores that stock wii. Best ones are like an hour drive away.

Well if you change your mind... I had to get up at five in the morning and wait with my uncle so he could get a Wii and I live in a very small city in the middle of nowhere. YAY! Not during the initial release either... it was like three months ago.
Who ever said that, is either an idiot or likes to extremely eggagerate.

It could be a possibility, I never even thought about the wii really - or any of the new machines because I knew I wouldn't have enough money to keep up with all the games.
Thats why I really don't know much about the latest consoles; not even prices X|.

Hmm check around the internet. Ever since before launch, there have been sites dedicated to tracking wiis and from what I've heard, most stores hold their wiis to sell on Sundays usually(like walmart, best buy, circuit city, etc.) Other than that, I'd probably suggest Amazon and ebay as well..
I work at a Best Buy in the USA. This past Sunday we got in another shipment of Wii's (which is rare). Several hours before we opened, people started lining up outside. We received 36 Wii consoles total. I would guestimate the people in the line bought about 4/5'ths of those, and the rest were purchased by stragglers making their way in afterwards. They were all gone an hour after we had opened the doors.

As for myself, I camped out for one back in November.

It was so... cold *shudders*

Well if you can't find one online, just check Best Buy Sunday ads. Usually (if not always) when there's Wii's in the Sunday advertisement, the store will have some reserved for Sunday. For example, my store received the shipment several days before Sunday, but was required to hold them until Sunday because the ad specifically listed an amount that each store would carry as a minimum. So, if you see "Minimum ## per location" or something like that, just wake up early Sunday morning and stand outside for an hour with strangers... you'll get your Wii :)

Or, I'm not sure if this'll work, but when it hits 12:00 AM on BestBuy.com on a Sunday Wii-day, try doing an online order and set "Pick up" at your local store. After it's purchased, the merchandise team should pull one off the shelf for your order. You will receive an e-mail confirmation either saying A) Your order is ready to be picked up or B) The item in unavailable

ORRRR if you pop in on a Sunday when the ad lists Wii's, and they're OUT, ask someone in the Media department (games, music) to check "Customer Fulfillment" and see if there's any available. The Customer Fulfillment system pulls from a district warehouse, so if there's any that haven't been snagged up yet lying around, it will let you order one from there. Free shipping to your house if you tell the sales associate to send it to your house, too.

Or here's another loophole; if you have a hunch Wii's will be coming in soon, ask them if you can do a customer order or "ORCA" (Pronounced like the whale). That would allow you to purchase a Wii unit that would be coming in on the next shipment. Truthfully though, usually ORCA won't let us order Wii's at all since they're such a high-demand item. I've never been able to ORCA a Wii before.

If you just want to know if some Wii's are coming in, ask a sales associate to "check RSS" or "check retek" for the Wii. If you can glance over their shoulder at the system once they bring it up, there's a couple things to look for: First off "In Transit" means they're on their way to the store at the very moment, so if you see 10+ units coming, you might inquire when that store's tucks come in or if they are planning to have Wii's in the ad for Sunday. "Available on Hand" or "AOH" means the store has already received them. If the associate tells you they DON'T have Wii's at this point they're lying (probably because they've been instructed to do so by a manager or supervisor). Don't get hostile because the corporation may require the store to hold them until a certain date, like Sunday. If you see some units AOH I would definitely check back on Sunday.

That's really the only tips I can think of if you want to get a Wii from Best Buy.

I wish you luck!

When you get your wii mod it. I suggest a wiikey.

I would wait until online games are released before modding. (SSBB)

Wouldn't want to gimp your unit for Smash Brothers would ya'?

You might try one of those Wii stock trackers like http://www.instocktracker.com/wii/. Don't know how good they are in terms of being up to date. A friend of mine said he found his at local store by checking a website with brick-and-mortar stock info; however, the only stock trackers I found were for online stores. I was going to ask him what website he used, but I finally found one last month.

Ultimately I got mine locally. I literally called about 30 of those small game shops (EB Games, etc) and they all had the same story - out of stock, shipments are random, no idea when the next is coming. Then I physically went to 10 of the big stores - several Wal-Marts, Targets, Best Buy, Circuit City, Toys R Us... None of them had any on display (several had plenty of PS3s, heh), so I had to ask each time if they had any. Finally the last Wal-Mart I went to had ONE left in the back. Man, that was satisfying walking out of the store after all that searching. I was prepared to go to several more stores, but time was running out (anniversary gift for the wife).

Good luck,
Just be patient, and buy one from gamestop.

My dad bought one online for $400, and saw one there 2 days after he gave it to me. he felt like an idiot
