Everytime I try and open Counter-strike: Source on Steam, it says it cannot open and a Norton Anti-Virus alert pops up saying there is a Trojan Virus in some file or whatever. Well, it says it cannot fix it. No idea why, I mean, these programs are meant to fix it. What the hell am I paying for? Are there any Virus Protectors that actually work, and that actually get rid of the virus so I can open Counter-strike: Source?

You could always re-install CS:S. There's also the possibility that Norton is screwing up.

First off, ditch Norton. It still has unpatched vulnerabilities that cause it to execute viral code in specially formed malware.
If you're the type that likes to pay for virus-scanners, I recommend NOD32, it's pretty much best in the business at the time. If however you're looking for free solutions, take a look at Grisoft's AVG or AVAST. Nod32 - http://www.eset.com/ AVG - http://free.grisoft.com/ Avast - http://avast.com/ These by no means are your only options for virus scanners, just the ones I know and trust myself. -- That being said, most often the case when a virus scanner can't fix a problem, the virus is hiding out in System Restore or is otherwise protecting itself from being accessed. A general step in virus removal is to deactivate system restore on all drives before attempting to scan and remove. This is about the best advice I can give with the knowledge I have. If there's still something wrong, the problem probably goes deeper and I'd have to suggest running HijackThis and other utilities in an attempt to diagnose what's really going on. |
