With recent events, they seem to have a puncher's chance to stay in it.

- Blockbuster's announcing dropping HD-DVD for Blu Ray, might have a few people looking into a Blu Ray player, and it's also a game console. Making it perhaps the one of (if not the best) deals for a Blu-Ray - PS3 sales seem to be spiking, I believe sales have peaked at a 2800% increase (on amazon.com) since the price drop. I know this won't keep up, but it shows people are taking a second look.

Only time will tell!
:P

Do you see what I'm getting at here?I LOVE VIOLENT GAMES! I EFFING LOVE THEM! Immature I'm sure but after I get really pissed off theres only two options for a man like me. Beating someone up or playing a good violent game. I don't see anything juicy for the Wii.

Damn, don't even start with the "kiddy wii" crap. ManHunt 2 should be enough to shut that up from anybody.

I actually keep thinking that about the Wii. Perhaps its the burden yet to be shaken off from Nintendo because of the games they have/make/own.

Meh, every system has their "barbie horse adventure" type game and who doesn't mind slaughtering dozens of people? Wii does have a lack of them at the moment, but has more creative games coming out(which won't neccessarily have excessive blood splatter). And its not like every wii game has you collecting mystic lollipops to save candylando r somethin. My point is, playing a game rated by the overprotective ESRB that has blood in it, doesn't make you "a man". You might think it does(WarLin), but thats bull crap.

I remember some stuff about games using different colour blood so they can dodge higher ratings. The fanbases made mods for red blood as always.

If you meant person, you probably shoulda said that instead.

Theres a difference between bloody and juicy~
Also don't split hairs.
I can't really take any of your reviews and comments on the video game industry seriously because you are such a Sony fanboy.

Also, don't give me that Block Buster crap. In every town I ever lived we have never even had a Block Buster. We have had a Move Gallery, a Family Video and a few Ma' & Pa' video stores, but I have never even rented from a Block Buster.

Just because one franchise decides to take one format over another doesn't mean anything. It only means that they are going to lose out on more money they could have had by offering a broader range of media. There are still tons of people out there, just like me, who feel that the Blu-Ray media format is nothing better then a modern day Beta tape.

This "juicy" crap, as you so put it is ridiculous in it's own right. A game doesn't have to be violent to be a good game. And if you have to play a violent game just to be able to settle down, then you have more issues then I thought you did. Besides that, with the Nitnendo Wii brining in titles like Resident Evil, your argument already fails.

But it helps if it's violent ;D!

Also, Like I said before. I used to root for Nintendo up until the gamecube but they let me down. Alot.
In response to WarLin
I don't see why everyone hates on the Gamecube, some of the best games I've played was on it. I know I have had more fun playing most of my Gamecube games then most of my PS2 games. And I didn't even touch the Xbox.
In response to Revenant Jesus
I love the Gamecube, but mostly just for Sonic Adventure Battle 2 and various multiplayer games.
In response to Revenant Jesus
You and the other people that think the Blu-Ray will fail are wrong, then. >:D

Personally, I think that Sony paid out Blockbuster to serve only Blu-Ray discs and not HD-DVD. HD-DVD is sub-par compared to Blu-Ray and they came out around the same time. It's not like the Beta tape and it's competitor came around at the same time. Besides, the beta tape wasn't even that much greater.

Also, just because you haven't been to a Blockbuster doesn't mean that a good, decent amount of people haven't. I've never heard of any of those video stores you've mentioned, but I'm damn sure that they aren't nearly as popular as Blockbuster or even Hollywood Video.

Also, since when did Resident Evil titles on the Nintendo anything not suck? 0.o

Though I now play it on my Wii instead of GameCube.. I should buy a wireless GC controller though >_<

Well there's a reason Blockbuster has so many stores, you have to have customers to have stores.

Who said that juicy meant bloody? And who said I was mad?

Some what on topic, I read a pretty decent post on another site:

I think there is a real divide opening between Nintendo and their most hardcore of fans, and i'm not too sure it's entirely well founded.
It was interesting watching the 1UP E3 post-press video, where they all felt abandoned my Nintendo, left to the side as the company now went full tilt after the casual gamers and 'alt mass market'. It is important to remember that this E3 was really about getting on FOX and CNN, showing off what Missy and Mr Regular can buy for all the family this Christmas on Wii. It's a reinforcement of their brand to those that need a second or third blow to ensure they continue to stay in this market - as new (albeit perhaps semi-regular) buyers of videogames.
We should remember, I feel, that Nintendo are, always have been and always will be, 1) in the business of making money 2) be a videogame/toy company 3) target itself to make the best of 1 & 2.
A while back Peter Moore let slip that they were anxious that the 360 will only go on to sell a finite number, that it has a cap they are soon fast approaching (1-2 years of NEW first time 360 owners) and that while more successful than the XBOX, so many users are onto 2/3rd boxes that the actual number sold to new gamers is somewhat 'off'. The most recent live results pointed to what... something like 3-4 million members? Out of 11 Million sold? You can see why he's worried. They are selling to the same people, the same market as the did last time, just now with more BANG. Sony are more of the attitude "we'll get em in the end, we sold 140 million PS2 for heavens' sake".
With Sony and Microsoft both thankful to Nintendo for attempting something NEITHER of them could ever have gone out and attempted - they simply were not setup nor would have been permitted to take such an enormous risk (neither have the toy background company / image /setup) - you can see already both of them are setting off down the path of casual gaming as an additional front, thankful for the fresh blood to assist them in funding new ventures, supporting their hardcore-only games etc.
Our fear is obviously Nintendo have commited so much of themselves to this task - bringing in new blood for the benefit of the entire industry - and are making SO MUCH MORE money than the hardcores EVER gave them, it will be difficult to get the attention we are all so used to having.
They have a new baby in the house, and we are very much the moody older sibling, pained and chucking toys in the corner, demanding our new Zelda toy or Mario squishie.
I feel us hardcores should calm, settle, realise this first year is a bust for us as baby gets all the lovin, and await the goodies of next year, ones we can now SHARE and introduce to our new found blood brothers and sisters.
I think Miyamoto saying he's now returning back to development time on Mario etc is extra reinforcement of this belief. We'll still be looked after, just give em some time. The developers are still out there to make hardcore games, and i'm sure Miyamoto-san still has SOME say in his own home as to what games get made :) He is, afterall, King of all geeks.

Meh, Blockbuster sucks. I got to Hollywood video now; they have MUCH better deals for previously viewed movies and rental costs.

Meh, people keep saying the Gamecube was a failure as if they just stopped making games for it. It was a financial failure, but not a failure to the fans. They had games coming out for it up until the Wii came out, a true failure wouldn't last that long. I would say the Gamecube still has games coming out for it, but I don't know how true that is...0_0

Well gosh, that sure wasn't a lot of screaming fanboy drivel.

No wait, it was.

Sony didn't shut up anyone who's down on their system, although their recent price drop will certainly do them no harm. What they apparently did do, though, was whip the fanboys into a frenzy--which is about as difficult as spilling a beer.

[edit]
Looks like it isn't a price cut after all. They're just clearing out the 60GB units to make way for the 80's. I was kinda wondering how 20GB of storage could justify a $100 price difference in this day and age. Oh, and the new model won't be backward compatible with PS1 or PS2. The price of being a fanboy just went up--even higher.

Lummox JR

I really don't think it will help them that much either. Its a bad decision in my opinion, but just might infact have people "rushing" to get them(if they have a spare $500) before they're gone. But when they're sold out and people don't have the option of buying the cheap version anymore, I tihink people will just settle with a 360 or something.
