If it weren't also up to you guys, you wouldn't even have a macro system and would be dependant on the developer for your macros.
Quit complaining about a macro system that's better than the previous system.

Only if you're using big icons, not if you use the default 32x32 icons.
If you can't be bothered to understand how something simple like that works, don't bother to code at all.

about the only good thing in the new byond is its new look.......

Finally something that is appreciated. The new look can be modified by the developer using .dmf files.

o and when u turn into big icon size its a bit blury.

That's because of the scaling done. If the icon isn't designed to be scaled like that, and you don't want to see it "a bit blurry", don't bother to scale it at all, and thus don't bother to set the map to the "big icon size".

Well, that approach sure makes sense. Instead of focusing on the problems you're having with the new system and trying to work around them, fix them, or maybe even suggest a good way of improving things, why not just give up on the whole thing and say the system sucks? It's a brilliant plan, inasmuch as it saves you from having to do any actual work like figuring things out or asking questions. Well done.

Maybe you dont like the way things are in 4.0 but some people do. Tom and the rest of the BYOND staff worked really hard to put this all together. That doesnt mean you have to like it but at least have enouph respect to not label the title of this post 'BYOND 4.0 sucks'. That doesnt just go for you but for everyone who has been making these kind of posts. You could make suggestions of how you think 4.0 could be improved.
You're free to not use it, thank you very much.
Galeman, BYOND 3.5 is still up for download, so instead of complaining you can fix this problem of yours by yourself.

Title says it all. Why are those things so bad? Can't the reasons be done in detail? What could be changed?
Hahaha, it's really funny I think.
Every time Tom or one of the BYOND staff releases something new theres a big horde of people who complain "This sucks" just because it is different.

Very humorous.

Even more so, since 4.0 was in the works for 4 years. Or announced 4 years ago. Either way.

No, you're not. Everybody is switching to 4.0: it's not just developers that make the switch. Hosts make the switch too. Your favorite game which works in 3.5 just fine doesn't work when you connect to it because the host is running 4.0 and you are not.

I'd say its the user's fault there for thinking it sucks.

IE doesn't suck. It works for the most part, right?

No one says they have to use BYOND at all. Its is free software, after all.

You'd have to ask Tom for sure, but lets see... lack of funding, lack of motivation, lack of knowledge (you have to learn how to do all this stuff before you can add it), lack of Dan (since they had to decipher a lot of his code to make new stuff work), time spent on redesigning the whole BYOND scheme, having to update about 3 different versions of BYOND at once, reverse compatibility issues, hiding the evidence, dealing with tech support issues, etc...
I just love how people who are defending BYOND are taking the criticisms so harshly. I think BYOND should take this opportunity to evaluate the reactions from ALL BYOND users and then make tweeks and adjustments based on those reactions.

Yeah a lot of these complaints are not really all that great, but they still might be something to consider. I mean, I have heard other people complain about the Macro problem that was less retarded.

The main problem is, his post is just a rant!, It is in no way, shape, or form, Constructive criticism. The staff does evaluate reactions when they are supported by some form of proof, and not just bias.

I don't see the point in complaining when its still free, and only used to help games look better rather than the dull grayish windows we've become accustomed to.

Isn't that what they're doing?

I was referring to the version, not BYOND as a whole. Besides, your argument is moot anyway. The person telling them to use BYOND is themselves: it's an addiction.
