Hey guys, a lot of you might not remember me but I'm old school. Anyway, just to catch you guys up on my life, I'm still in School, selling phones at AT&T, in a fraternity, and just living life being a college kid. Anyway how has everything been with BYOND? I see 4.0 is out, was it all that it was hyped up to be? Anyway I can't believe its been 6 years since I've been here and there are STILL Dragonball Z games coming out! I would have that it would have passed as a fad or the users would have matured.

Dear god, Sariat! It's great to see you! I doubt you remember much of me, but I'm kind of back for a while. You were real big when I joined right before you left, six and a half years ago. You really helped me learn DM with your demos and your help on the forums!
I don't know why, but at first I was thinking Skysaw when I saw your name... Then it reminded me of My Life As A Spy... But again, confusion aside, good to hear you are doing well. Your demos were helping me so much in my first year here, I didn't even realize you had taken off until about six months after you really did... =/ ^_^ You probably don't even remember me at all, I'd bet. |
Hey! I didn't venture BYOND until '02, so I think I just missed you on here when you left, but I do recall giving some demos and forum posts and such a good spin when I was learning, and I think you were in the upper-tier of those that helped me back in the day. :)
4.0's cool, yeah. We got some nifty new functionality, and a PNG-based icon format (alpha-channels, yay). Oh, and a BYOND Members site was launched; it's pretty nifty. Still DBZ games? It's like a curse. I think those are dying out though, the kiddies these days are more interested in ripping Naruto and Bleach games. Some people matured, others didn't, and the BYOND community suffered (yeah, suffered, heh) a massive user influx at some point, most or all of them seemingly the type that would add to the aforementioned problem. So you're still in school, eh? Might I ask what school you go to, and what you're going for? I'm a high school senior right now, so I'm shopping around, so to speak. You know. Edit: Oh, one more thing. Not sure if you heard, but BYONDimes became an endangered species. Now only people that had BYONDimes have BYONDimes, and their functionality has essentially been reduced to withdrawals, so now I think people just use PayPal for paying each other. Hiead |

To some degree, I'd disagree with you about the suffering. A lot of really good programmers came from the rip crowd, but most of the people are overlooked by the BYOND "gurus", and self-proclaimed experts, simply because they enjoy making fangames.
Though, to a degree, I'd agree with you. A lot of rips attracted negative attention, and caused a lot of e-drama. Of course, that's all going away now, as the rip sub community can be fully ignored what with guilds, and all. ^_^ I still enjoy playing around with dragonball games, and think a lot more can be done with them, though I may not be the person to do it. I don't see the point of shunning the rippers anymore, though. I try to help people out with code as much as I can, as telling them where they can stick their rip can cause more harm than good. Though, you aren't part of that problem, and this is fairly off topic, so I'll stop. I didn't realize that I'd been here longer than you, Hiead. I always thought you were just somebody's alt, as I never noticed you until about '04 or '05. You really came a long way in a short time. |

I remember Rurouni Dragon... Not DarkHiei, though. You were coming up around the same time I was, I do remember you, then.

Heyy your name is familiar, do you remember me as Koolguy90095 or even as TheGameBoy90 from 2001?

Didn't pull Dan out of your basement and have him say hi? That's so cold, man.
Speak of which, how is Dan these days, Nadrew? You get the dumbwaiter installed so you could get food to him without him constantly making bids for freedom? Wait... Robots don't need to eat... Nevermind. |

I wish I could afford a cyborg like that, he's made out of wood and super glue mostly.

None of those are cyborgs. They are all Androids.
On the other hand: Cyborg. |

Don't know you but here are your answers:
Good. Yes, though it is still beta so there are problems. Not only DBZ but Naruto and Bleach are some other popular rip ideas.
