Right, well intel has clearly won this war with it's core2duo but will Intels new processor match up to AMD's new one? I've heard its called AMD Barcelona?
Anyway what are your thoughts and you think AMD can beat intel this war?

Wasn't intels big win because the core2duo's used a new type of architexture compared to AMD's 2 year old one?
Intel is making its smaller more energy efficient chips in its factories. AMD has no factories suitable to create chips of the same nanometer size as Intel, so they're using old-school architecture and beefing the balls out of it to compete with the Core 2. (That new quad-core Opteron is what I'm referring to)

[EDIT]

Hey the Opteron came out and poops on Intel. "True" quad core (rather than two Core 2 Duo's a.k.a. Core 2 Quad)

Intel's big win was because they finally moved to a more sane architecture, yes. NetBurst was awful - Core 2 was a more RISC-like chip.

Now it looks like the big gap is going to be Intel's oh-look-we-have-a-ridiculously-fine-process. Was it 23 nanometres? Can't remember off the top of my head.

I reckon Intel is likely to remain on top, though. They've just got a major technological advantage.

I don't think they will hold it for long because AMD brought MMX technology back in the day from intel they could do the same again hmm but do they have the cash is the real question...
AMD is cooler because the name sounds better.
