I heard that hosts can't have a router. Is that true? and why? What's so wrong with a router? O.o Hope this is in the right section. O.o

They can, you just have to Port Forward. A Router is like a firewall in a way, but since I lack in knowledge of that, wait for someone else.

Screw it.... It doesn't work both of them. I did everything it said. I even got someone else to try it and it wouldn't work. I think they need to update there information. >.>

Port forwarding is fairly straight-forward. A guide like port-forward.com is only for people who are completely computer illiterate (and don't want to learn).
All you need to do is login to your router and forward a port to your computer. BYOND uses TCP, and only TCP, so you know. Once done, you can just host your game with DreamSeeker/DreamDaemon and use the port you forwarded. Ports below 1025 are protected; you need to be an administrator on your OS to use them. Ports above 10000 are client ports; you shouldn't use them since they're used to connect & maintain connections to other servers. -- Data |
