It all started when I was playing a game in full screen and my finger accidentally slipped over the sleep button and the computer went into standby. I turned the computer back on, and to my horror, the 800x600 Full Screen view that was stretched across the 1680x1050 screen was now centered, and not stretched, and I must say, it looked very horrible.

So now I have this problem. Every time I run a program in Full Screen, instead of it getting stretched over my screen, There's a little 800x600 box centered in the middle of my screen. I've been ignoring it by going into other profiles and running my full screen programs there, but lately, it's been getting very annoying.

Please help me fix this. =(

Try changing your screen resolution to 800x600 the back to the size you like and try open a full screen program.

Tried it to no avail.
This can sometimes be a software problem. My NVidia card has the option to handle resolution instead of the monitor, causing different sizes to appear with a black border on my monitor. This is nice, as I dislike the stretching that happens at lower resolutions, but it may be a problem for some. Try updating your graphics card drivers, then play around with the settings. Also, you might try hitting the "Auto" button on your monitor, assuming it has one.

Firstly, thanks. I'll go update the drivers and try again.
Secondly, my computer is a laptop.

[UPDATE] Well, I just got around to it this morning. I have a ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 Card installed on a Dell Inspiron 9100. Neither Dell nor ATI supports it. Where can I find some good and trust able drivers?

Only Dell or ATI would have drivers, nobody else is trustworthy.

Here is the ATI Mobility drivers: http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx?p=xp/ mobility-xp

One of the models listed is the 9700.

I downloaded the installation verification file, and it canm't be installed on my PC.

Also, if you would look a little closer, you would see that it has a list of computer manufacturers' computers supported, and dell is not in the list.

[EDIT] Let me just tell you what happened when I changed my resolution to 800x600. I had the box again >.>

Well, the listed manufacturers shouldn't matter*, but in this case you will need to go to Dell. They have a really good system to view all the drivers for your system (you can just put in the 8 letter service code printed on the bottom of your laptop). If Dell doesn't have any updates, then you are SOL, but I doubt they would help you, it's just a good first step in troubleshooting that type of an issue.

I went to Dell's site and did what you just said, and I downloaded the latest driver for my graphics card and voila! Problem Solved!

Thanks Danial! =)

Great! Glad I could help. I really didn't think that alone would fix the problem, but lucky for me it did.
