Odds are that this is a problem with your wireless router, often relating to 'port-forwarding'. Please take the time to search the forum for 'port-forwarding' -- it's been answered to death! :) good luck!

You can't just "cut off a firewall" on a router or modem, because they are hardware firewalls put into place to prevent malicious content from not only effecting your PC, but your modem or router.
What you are going to need to do is mess with your settings and open up a port that BYOND can easily access and use. If you don't know how, you should find someone that does know how and ask them for help. |
Ok first we need to know a few things. If you are willing to play with a friend who has a computer on your network you need to do a couple of things. First, open up a castle or any game of your choosing and press the Host button whbich is lcated at the bottom right. Now a box shall come up with Port highlighted. Now choose any number you want like: 7890. Ok now make sure the visibility is public and security is trusted. Once all that is done press ok in the window. Now in the chat box if something comes up that says the port is not allowed.. just simply change your port number. This is all done on the hosting computer.
Now go to a computer that has the Byond window open (not the website the program) and press file, open location. Once that is done a window should come up that says open location. Now the instructions say that you can enter the server/port number. Now comes the tricky part, if you know the ip adress of your computer tan skip a few sentences down ,if you dont do the following. An easy way to find out is download a free version of this GREAT program called Network magic. Here is the link: http://www.networkmagic.com/download/ Ok now that you have downloaded the program and followed the instructions on setting up your network go to the icon that shows your computer and press on it. This will be located on the Network map tab. Once you click on your pc go to the details tab which is located to the right of the network magic window. look for something that says ip adress. THERE YOU GO !! You have found your ip adress CONGRADULATIONS!!! now type in you ip adress in that open location window like this for example; 192.168.x.xxx: your port number goes here like the one i showed you in the beginning of the post: 192.168.x.xxx:7890. Now all this should have been doen on the computer that is not hosting. But the network magic should be done on the hosting computer so you can find out the host ip adress so it can go into the non hosting computer in the open location window. Now once you have done all that you should have both or more computers open on castle or etc. and you should get to play right away!!!!!! Now you should host on the same comp all the time to avoid difficulties but if you dont want to send me an email at [email protected] LOL becuse this post is huge sorry. Hope this post helped you, Sheik113 |

To get your I.P., you can go to command prompt and type in ipconfig. Save yourself from downloading a whole bunch of crap. And the visibility of the game will not effect people joining it using open location. And nor does a game require to be on trusted; safe works just fine, and keeps the game to confinement of its own files.
