If your original idea is really sketchy or would be better with the new idea then I say make a backup and go on with the remake. Make sure you are truly motivated or else you will fail on both projects.

This is not an advertisement, the hub isn't even stated. This is more like an "undecided creation."
And for me it would depend on how big and how dirty the code is. If it's really dirty and small, I'll definitely remake it. If it's big and clean, what's the point of remaking it? If it's big and dirty, I might remake it after a while if it gets completely unreadable :P. |
If "Warriors and Wizards: rise of the phoenix" means replacing the Harry Potter theme with your own intellectual property, then go ahead with the redesign. You may have to do a bit more work, but the end product will be all yours.
(I'm not lecturing about the evils of fangames in this post. This is just how I interpreted the question.) |

No, this isn't a philosophy, it's a created game already. And he's thinking of remaking it. Is destroying and remaking a way to design a game? or a way to think of ideas?

Off topic people, and my opinion -
Finish all your projects before starting even getting ideas about new ones. -Poal |
Personally I prefer having multiple projects going at one time. I get very bored of working on a single project (no matter how much I like the project) for too long, so I like to spread out my development. It helps me not go crazy.

someone give me a hint on what to do :P 1) Design You will first need to decide exactly what your game will become. Write a text file and put in summary of the game, as well as a list of features this game should have. 2) Alpha version Now you'll need to code the basics for your game. Don't worry about spells if you haven't even got a spells system in place yet. First you will need to make that spells system, but also an inventory system, a combat system, a movement system (i.e. if you have movement delays or anything other special for movement), etc. 3) Bug hunting Start scouting for bugs. Do things you didn't mean for players to do. Find as many bugs as possible and fix them! 4) Beta version Now it's time to work towards a beta version. This should be easier since you have all the basic systems in place already. You can now start adding items and spells and monsters and NPCs. Populate your world with those and start making maps. 5) Host the game By the time you've done that, it's time to host your game to have other players test it, checking for bugs as well. Fix those bugs, and then move onto... 6) Improve your game This stage is your ultimate goal. Once you're here, all you'll be doing is implementing new features or tweaking existing ones. You have to keep in mind that people who rip somebody else's game do it just to get to this stage a little faster, since by ripping all the previous stages have "already been completed" in the eyes of the person ripping (even though most of the time, the game has been poorly designed from the start so you'd have to remake the entire game to make it worthwhile). 7) The end! Once you simply can't improve the game any longer, once you're done with your game, and all bugs have been fixed, you can mark your game as "Polished" and return to Step 1, making an entirely new game; perhaps a sequel? -- Data |
you guys know what im missing? motivation.....im lazy because there are lots of good games im addicted to and thats why i dont have time to finish what i started :/

But make sure everything is original including all pixel art and programming. A completely original game will attract a lot of people almost any time. Also, make sure there is plenty to do on the map and that players don't find themselves wondering aimlessly.
