Together, me and some friends made a game. And at once point we asked someone to help us. He became a control freak, wasn't very good at coding, and we found icons in his game belonging to use. So we said he couldn't help out any more. Now, about 2 months later, he says that because he helped out, he has every right to distribute the source. He claims he did 40%, yet he did more like 5% or less. Is there anyway to have this removed from being a hub?..The only positive is the version he put out is outdated by 2 - 3 months.

I also contributed to his game, as have many others. Does this give them the right to distribute his source?
Nope. But there's nothing you can realistically do to stop him.

Hopefully you learned a lesson from all of this.

Ok thanks. And ya I have learned. But my second question is if I could distribute his source >:D
In response to Valen45
Do what ever you want, but does lowering yourself down to his level really make you feel better?
In response to Valen45
And he answered: nope. While it may seem fair to react the same way, you'll only lead yourelf into more trouble later on.

Why can't you delete his hub entry? It's an unauthorized release of a source that does not belong to Ragnarok HGM. If anything, Ragnarok should be able to release his part of the source and nothing else. It was a group effort, so it'd have to be authorized by the group to have it released.

Do you know why it was released? Envy? Insecurity? Vengeance? Ragnarok felt threatened that his lame game would lose popularity because something better is on the block. He's just trying to humiliate their name by releasing the source. If a bunch of rips spawn, Ragnarok has succeeded. The release will give the real game a bad name. This is just like the Zeta release. Zeta was fun to play until someone leaked the source. Now no one likes it.

And why can't he do the same? Why would it get him in trouble if it did not get Ragnarok HGM in trouble? Is it really fair? Of course, you'll say fairness doesn't matter, but it really does in this case. Where is justice? I say it's time for some payback.

Have you read the bible? In the old testament, the Eye for an Eye punishment was used, but thats the OLD testament, the new one got rid of it and it worked so far. And also in society the Eye for an Eye punishment is gone(Though I think we should bring it back).

No.

Don't release his source.

If you don't like him strive to not be like him in any way.
In response to Poal
Examples from the bible are bad unless you're on a religious forum, because there are still a decent amount of BYONDers that aren't Christian.
In response to Poal
I'm Jewish, thus I believe in the old testament, so I could take that offensively, though I know you didn't mean it in an offensive manner.

My personal opinion is eye for an eye is good in some cases, but in this case, NO. get revenge in ANY OTHER WAY PLEASE, more rips only make BYOND worse, you would only be hurting BYOND.

Like Popisfizzy said, please don't bring up religious stuff like this, I could have been offended easily, but I wasn't, so just be careful.
In response to Moleboy
I didn't mean to offend anyone I'm just putting an example of Eye for an Eye and how (No more religious stuff) government has moved on from that to corporal punishment.
In response to CaptFalcon33035
Capt, the owners of HaH haven't raised any real complaint about it. Until the actual owners of the game request the code removed, it will not be (if then)
In response to Jamesburrow
Valen45 is Dion, one of the game's owners.

It was Hammurabi's Code (literally eye for an eye) way before that, in the time of Babylonia.

Only BYOND can bring religion into a thread about releasing a source code. It really boggles my mind.
So you and some friends made a game. OK, so it is safe to assume that not only you, but several people own the right to that source code correct? What do your friends think of this? Do they have any issues with it?

Second of all, if you gave the source code to someone, then, too bad, I mean, you gave it to him. Unless you had him sign some sort of contract, there isn't a lot you can do about it.

And all things considering, since it isn't even a original game, then you couldn't do much about it anyways, none of you own the right to that series, and I highly doubt any of the content is original.

But I am confused, first you say it is yours and some friends, and then you say it is his game and his source. What is it? It seems like you are using half truths. If it is his game and his source he has every right.
lol valen I'll UPDATE this game ;D

But man ... THAT F'ING SUCKS! TAKING ALL THAT WORK!?
In response to EGUY
And it's magical how he directly refers to the old testament, eh?
In response to Popisfizzy
I would just say distribute the code that he had and say its the code from his game and then just keep the updated code for yourself
that way he has compittion from newbs
and you have a better game

Of course they want the same action taken. They know the consequences of such an action, but it's not like they're all going to come on here and complain about it. Why would any one of the game's owners not want it taken down? It's only contributing to the ripping scene and BYOND's bad reputation for having the same games over and over.

It wasn't Ragnarok's to release to the entire world. Too bad if it was given to him--it does not belong to him. He's just trying to be an ass and have his inferior game back on top. Ragnarok is just being childish.

That's not actually the point. Of course they can't take any legal action, but their are a number of actions that can be taken. He's not asking of too much, just that the hub entry be deleted. He was completely just in asking that question and it is a very just action.

What? Where did he say that the game belonged to Ragnarok?
In response to Atomic1fire
That was the original thought, but you know how rips give the game a bad name. No one, save for the current players, is going to want to play his game when they see very similar games everywhere. Did you know that someone called Dracon's Zeta a rip before?
