I am working on a new pc build and I didn't not realize the mobo had 1 IDE channel. And I was wondering would it work to hook up a HDD and a dvd drive on 1 channel? If so I don't know what else to do? I need them both hooked up at once because I have Windows on a disc and I need to install it. If I can't do it on 1 channel what are my options?
Get a SATA HDD and you won't have to worry.

Yeah, I was kind of looking for a solution that doesn't involve me spending more money, thanks. :)
Normally each IDE channel can support two devices. Which is why standard IDE cables have room for two device connections. You shouldn't usually run a hard drive and an expansion drive on the same channel, but it shouldn't hurt anything. Eventually you will want to get a new drive that's better supported by your motherboard.
