I have no idea what the heck you just said.
Try using paragraphs and periods sometimes.

I think he needs more help than that. Seems like something to do with BYOND focusing on code more than art, and how not sharing donations will bring down the website, or something. I think he may have been drunk.
What did you say? I had a hard time understanding that with the weird word arrangement..Something about byond being money hungry or something?
It will never happen. Cry some more.

Lost me somewhere between bad grammar and bad spelling. Might want to title it "L3T3" next time. :S

What? I don't even get how blemished can be used in some kind of context like this.

I think he's trying to sound smarter by using words he doesn't quite get ("sought" is mispelled as well), which no one should ever do, as it very much does the opposite. It's like using technobabble and buzzwords when you're trying to sell new software or hardware.

Or maybe English isn't his first language. Seems like a lot more wrong than just usage.
Tom has been offering huge amounts of bandwidth and resources for free, out of the goodness of his heart, and this is in spite of the fact that he and Dan have always intended BYOND to be for-profit. BYOND is a free tool, but the features like BYOND members, referrals, etc. are all intended to give BYOND the ability to grow. Rough estimate, BYOND is probably $100,000 in the red and is only beginning to earn *some* of that back -- and given that BYOND is now paying Lummox JR a salary, it's earning it back at a much slower rate than you might think.

Besides, I question why you consider BYOND to be taking a wrong turn. BYOND has not been growing this fast since 1999, and it's all thanks to some clever work on finally getting BYOND financially self-sufficient. If BYOND can earn some significant revenue, we might even see a larger number of programmers and even more features asserting themselves.

One of the biggest problems with BYOND is not with the software, but rather with its community. Tom, Dan, and recently Lummox JR have added features by the ass-ton for the past nine years, and of those features, I would say that only about 80% of them get used at all, and only 50% get exploited to their full potential. BYOND can do some dazzling stuff... all it takes is someone willing to dazzle.
I can't stand it. I need to convert this to English.

Much has been said in the past and mear future about progress and change with byond.

Much has been said about the past and the coming future in regards to progress and change with BYOND.

Though not meny successful, infact advice was blemished and saut not from the actual suporting byond members.

Although many are not successful (Many people? Man projects? Many changes? Not sure what Curzon's referring to, here), the support was poor, and did not seek to actually support the BYOND Community. (Or at least this is the best I can figure it.)

If these measures would have been taken in place to developeing a useful format to ease the form of work with our skills; Such as, Program design, Graphic design, an also Pixel-Art design.

The changes that have happened so far would have been much more beneficial if they were related to making the development of content easier; such as making improvements in regards to the program's design, graphic design, and pixel art. (IE; The changes could have been better aimed at making the development environment easier)

The real byond community would be geting the actual exstent for there help.

If they did this (the above), then the BYOND community would actually be getting benefit from the help. (It seems like this is a general comment toward the attitude of the support given to individuals in regards to problems)

If you've come to realize what they have been doing for work was much rather deciveing and making money off these small impressions testing beta softwares "bugs" that fail inquir to there cleverly contrived motive.

You can come to the conclusion that all this support is actually deceptive, and their end goal is to turn a profit by giving us 'beta' software in order to test. This is their true motive - they simply wish to make a profit.

Though they can't hide it simple factors relate, If you'd much be collective with donations and such rather then be the foundation of this site.

Though they try to hide it (Or maybe, they don't hide it well. This paragraph's a bit... hazy. It seems to contradict itself somewhat in terms of what he's trying to say) (What follows is the basic gist of the comment): You should stop focusing on trying to get donations, and instead on trying to improve the development environment.

this will be your undoing for thouse who try to beset and destroy my brothers I shall stike down apon you with great furious rage and anger.

Your greed is going to be your undoing, and anyone who tries to hold down me and my brothers, I will strike you down with anger.

.... Honestly. Even when brought to be interpreted into clearer English, the whole basic argument doesn't make that much sense.

He's basically accusing the BYOND Developers of being greedy, and not putting effort into improving anything, from what I can gather. Whether or not he's attacking Dan and Tom and Lummox, or just people developing in BYOND in general, I'm... not exactly sure.

But, yeah. I felt the need to try to make sense of this rant.

Thanks for that, BTW. I thought this was procedurally generated English at first. Babelfish.com with a crayon through the temporal lobe or something.

Ooo, I can translate that part:

That sounds a lot like something the Automatic Complain Letter Generator would write. Good job!
I kinda wonder what you were really driving at here. It seems in a nutshell you're complaining about development time being spent on what you think are the wrong priorities. Fair enough I guess, but one reason the website has had so much attention in the last few months is that it was really in bad shape and wasn't able to scale to an influx of new users. Also, we really didn't have a good way of directing the sorts of casual/strategy gamers we'd like to attract en masse into a part of the site that isn't dominated by anime rip foo. The site has really improved a lot now, so we're focusing on the software again.

The good news is, this next version update is going to be freaking epic. Build 413 is to 400 what 336 was to 306. Which is to say, more feature-rich, less buggy, and better to work with. In some ways this is an even bigger upgrade than 4.0 itself. Some major improvements have been made that for the first time may make BYOND more viable for sidescroller action games, among others.

So really I don't get what you're complaining about. Maybe the recent website foo wasn't as applicable to you, though we actually did make some formerly members-only features available to the general public. Maybe you didn't see as much benefit in any of that, but it was done to set the stage to let us continue developing the software. Those software developments have been proceeding quite well, as you can see from reading the Fixes & Features forum.

Anyway it seems to me that actually developing games would be a better use of time than complaining about why it's not easy enough. Foomer has been busy developing a lot of advanced stuff, and even though he's been quite active in bringing up issues that make his games harder to create, he's also gone ahead and worked around anything he could. Partly as a result of his active engagement with development and keeping us informed of issues he's run across, the next release actually fulfills a lot of his wish list. I had the same experience with versions 307-324 when the fledgling Incursion project was stretching BYOND to its limits; the whole /icon datum is more or less a direct result of Dan and Tom responding to my severe overuse of dynamic icons. Active developers usually have a pretty good idea what their absolute limits are, what little tweaks could be helpful, what minor bugs may appear (and often, how to trigger them), and how to communicate this to other developers. They also tend to focus more on what they can do than what they can't.

Yeah, but don't you think BYOND's now targeted to "kids" instead of programmers? Sure seems that way...
In response to Flame Sage
I think the idea of targeting players rather than creators is that the creators will go where the players are. BYOND has been a developer-only community for a long time, but they want to change that, and it seems to have worked.

Do I smell some pixel based client eye? Or some pixel based collision detection? Or both? Or is my dinner burning?

Yes. See Fixes and Features forum.

Or some pixel based collision detection?

Don't think so. But you can program sphere-based collision detection yourself anyway.
