More specific: What private server do you recommend?
I've tried Toxic-WoW, but it crashes alot.

If this topic is not allowed, it should be. WoW Pvt. servers are NOT illegal, If I'm not mistaken.

EDIT: personaly I prefer Pirates Online over WoW, has better graphics, gameplay and boats!

And I've tried Wurm. It was too confusing for me, and I never saw a single other player on the server.

JaxxMarron, I play on Stormscale. Circuit and Mikau have characters there, but Mikau quit at level 12 or something.

My advice would be to ask your friends if they play, there's bound to be a few of them. MMO's are pointless wastes of time if you're not playing with people you know.

To be honest,

Fixed.
Also,

That made me chuckle.

That goes without saying for a post of Falacy.

Anyone who thinks WoW has good graphics must have never played anything beyond the playstation 1 or Nintendo 64. Not to mention, aside from the pathetic graphic quality, all of the race's models (aside from blood elves) look like deformed ogres, since when does a human have a fist the size of a basketball?

And as for gameplay, WoW is the standard 'click on an enemy and watch a boring fight' MMORPG style crap, PoTCO actualy has an interactive combat system that requires the player to not fall asleep during gameplay

If you think both of those things you have never really played WoW. WoW wouldn't be defined a "high def", that's for sure. But it does have a style that scales extremely well and looks great on pretty much all hardware. Something that all other MMOs I've tried have problems with. They have great graphics, just not high res textures and insane poly count models.

As for the 'click and watch'nes of it, well, you must not have played past level 10. Balancing skills and powers makes you far more effective. You have to pay attention to mob distance, and with some skills location. If you are fighting a few mobs, some people need to be working crowd control, some people need to be doing area attacks, and some people need to keep the mobs off the weaker people. When you are doing challenging things, it can be quite complicated, and there is a lot more to it than clicking and waiting.

Kaioken, that can be said about any game. That's why I'm stressing the people you play with are really, really important. You should play for the community, not the stats.

Falacy, I'm not sure which WoW you've been playing because the one I'm on is beautiful. Not to mention the unique art style is refreshing in a market filled with "realistic" graphics where character models look like hunks of plastic. Also, if you're going to be advertising that movie/game tie-in I don't want to hear one word about graphics from you.

You go on to say "WoW is the standard 'click on an enemy and watch a boring fight' MMORPG style crap" which simply isn't true. I'm thinking you've only played to level 5 with two spells and quit. You don't know anything about the game you're trashing. JaxxMarron isn't looking for another game to play, he's just asking which server we all play on. Please stop posting before you get this thread locked.

I played WoW till level 30 something, its the same generic boring mmorpg style gameplay that they all use.

WoW
Pirates
Rappelz
FFXI

He is right about one thing. Combat in WoW sucks, badly. It is boring and horribly unbalanced. I could go on and on, but WoW is just another horribly designed MMORPG, it just happens to have a bigger budget that all these other MMORPGs.

Anyway, my advice is to not play WoW. But if you absolutely are going to then avoid private servers. They are full of horrible bugs, lag and none existant communities (and who wants to play a game where the majority of it's content requires tons of people to play... When there isn't any one to play with?).
You'd be better off playing on an official server, though they more or less all suck now too, because everyone in them is maximum level and all the low level areas are deserted. (If you can't afford the monthy fee involved then I'd suggest you get a job, I was earning enough allowance at age 8 to pay for the monthly fee involved in WoW :[).
Alernatively you can use a trial account, they are limited to level 20... But after about level 20 the games overall fun factor plummets, drastically.
People. I'd like you to read the topic of the thread, before you make any more posts in it.

I'm asking you what server, not what game.

(And I've tried PoTCO. It sucks. You have to pay just to get a good ship.)
