I thought the point of a joke was to be funny?
Anyway, why is this in Design Philosophy? Something like this belongs in the "offtopic" sections like Community or Computers & Technology.
Also, there was a topic like this before, so might as well bump it instead. Though I think it might also have been in DP.

The 99 bottles of beer song is funny, because it's so repetitive. Can you honestly sing it?

I didn't even know there was such a song. And maybe it is funny, but your post wasn't to me. >_> It's also not entirely in the style of 'programming jokes' I guess.

updated to full length and made the delay a bit longer :P got to love the drinking version of green bottles.

I made a topic like this, but I ended up regretting it except for one or two posts.

Anyways, I had originally put it into Design Philosophy because the idea was that only programmers could understand them, but that never really applied...

No, cheesy jokes are ones that make you feel silly for even telling. Ones that little kids will find funny, and older people will, but will not admit it. Cheesy jokes have some comedic values. Most of those had none.

Sorry, I meant older than little kids. And I believe that most people find cheesy jokes funny, they just refuse to admit it.

Plenty of reasons, but the most common one is social pressure. As children age, you see this very clearly. As they go from a child into a teen, they tend to ignore things that are funny, in an attempt to look more adult(I'm guessing), so things that used to make them laugh no longer do. Making funny faces is a great example of that. Make a funny face at a 8 year old and they will laugh, but make one at a 15 year old and they will look at you as if you are stupid. I honestly don't believe they are less amused by your funny face, they just don't want to admit it.

Human psychology is a complicated topic. In short, though, I consider "cheesy" jokes to be those that child find very funny, but maturity demands people stop laughing at.

Actually, I think some people become that way naturally...
