Hosting with router but with cord

Hi i plan on taking and stop using my wirless router and hooked my computer up to my netgear hard wire another words i have a Ethernet cord connected to my netgear router how do i open a port up for that its differnt with my netgear wireless im a host for charmed if anyone could help me please pm me back thanks

having a cordless or wireless router shouldn't make a diffrerence....
a router is a router, so there will be Port Fowarding needed if ur gonna host with a router.

it's gonna be pretty much the same answer anyone else will give.
