Bad news: MicroXP doesn't like to play nice with BYOND, it refuses to work, so I won't be able to play on this game because I am unwilling to do yet another installation.

Sorru to hear that, glad you were considering it though bro.
Maybe.

Im in need of a good roleplay so I usually click away at Cow RP or Alio.

I may give it a try.

I know you pointed this out already but I still hate the Naruto aspect of the game, and telling us that the streets are empty from the small community kinda turns me away.

Not so much as the streets are empty, as there isn't enough diversity to develop a "booming" city aspect of roleplay.

It seems like you're really expecting too much players, so much that you're expecting them to take on the roles of NPCs (not only shopkeeper, but worse, commoners, filling up the street). Players are not 'street filler', and I would suggest using NPCs* instead to take on the drier commoner roles. Because the game doesn't have a player population as large as a large village's population, eh.

*: NPCs are not necessarily bad, and like anything, they don't have to be pulled off like in most BYOND games, they could be pulled off right or better for the game.

This I'm aware of.

However, the idea of the game is a player built and run community. I feel like this forum post didn't convey the proper gist of the game.

A player built community wouldn't be empty. Rather, it'd accommodate the size of the community. If you have a small community, run a small village, or at least start with it.
Then it wouldn't feel empty, wouldn't it? Just a point you should consider.

That is indeed how it is run, the idea of this forum post I believe was to get more people involved so that it could expand into a bigger community. :P

If BYOND doesn't work, don't you think your Windows installation is faulty? Why'd you go with MicroXP anyway? I would have definitely gone with TinyXP or Windows 2000.
