No. You don't download libraries to change them; you're downloading a prepackaged product for the very reason that you don't do this work yourself. If the Allegro manual doesn't provide you with the best description of what a function does, find other documentation.

You especially shouldn't even be worried about examining or changing things like this if you're new to the language itself.
