Soo I've got this weird problem on my new computer. Whenever I stream something for a while (like, a 20minute clip), and with some pauzes and everything, my screen suddenly gets like.. the TV-Snow-Syndrome, and then suddenly the screen shuts down, tries to restart, shuts down again, and so on. My computer is still running, but I don't get the impression any commands I'm doing have any effect.
NVidia GTX 260
DivX WebPlayer
Firefox
Any ideas?

Yeah, it does sound like a graphics card issue, but a GTX 260 is a newer card, and quite powerful. It might be under warranty from the manufacturer(not NVidia).

So I'm currently encountering the bug. I've managed to shut down the stream before my comp crashed.
My mouse icon is displaced to the right, and has some weird lines around it when I hover it upon certain areas. Nothing else seems to be malfunctioning in any way. Though I'm sure that if the stream had gone on I'd've gotten the weird glitch again. Quite sure it's the graphics card? If so, /emo. :( |
As previously stated, your graphics card is overheating. This is a common cause of graphical glitches and eventual system shutdown. (To prevent further damage to the system). You either need to revamp the cooling system of your case and/or mount a fan to your video card.

Guess there's no other option indeed. I find it weird it overheats from STREAMING movies and stuff, and works fine when handling 3D applications on max settings.
I've just rebooted my comp and the whole colour scheme went crazy during the process. It's fine now though.. I'll see if I can get a replacement of some kind. Thanks! |
It sounds like it is your graphics card. I just had mine replaced because I had a similar problem. Try using a different graphics card to test.
