What type of game would have a short development time, lots of replayability, and obviously be enjoyable to play?
I've been thinking a unique card game but because of all the yugioh games I wonder if it will actually be popular.
Anyone have any great ideas?

I was actually going to look around for a fun, intriguing card game to play, but alas, I haven't found one (or looked that hard).

Why not try cloning something like Munchkin? If BYOND had that, I'd be playing it quite a bit.

Board games are always fun! DDT's Last Robot Standing was regularly #1 when the BYOND site had that now-defunct ranking system, and since certain BYOND bugs were squashed (which makes it playable yet again), LRS has again been very popular. It draws in players at all times of the day! The Naked Ninja's BYONDopoly was also pretty popular, but died mostly due to buggy play. You could always clone that (minus the bugs of course!), or find some other game to model (my personal pick is Go, which is where I spend most of my gaming time). |
sorry to say but, unless you get a rip, an enjoyable game takes time and work :P

Or a Shougi game, since I've never seen any of those online.

Make an Anime Showdown card game, with characters from all sorts of animes as cards, I'm fairly certain that that would be fun to develop AND play.
On a side note that Yu-gi-oh game has ALOT of players for it's genre. |
There was a game series like that awhile ago, which actually let people license out franchises to the game. They had street fighter, Penny Arcade and a few others.
That, in any sense would be the coolest. Creating a collectible card game, which also allowed the player base to make new expansions upon. |

I've yet to see a platformer which wasn't Megaman or Mario. Platformer != Multiplayer and single player makes me sad. If there was an efficient way to program that short of programming your own server to server communication I'd do it... Actually, I would possibly do it with S2S, but that isn't exactly short. |
You didn't say anything about being multiplayer in your original post. Besides, what's so bad about single player games?
You don't have to pay for a high speed server! |
Who pays for servers... :S
So many people around with high speed internet capable of hosting, why bother. |
You need more than regular old cable in order to reliably host anything which isn't an RPG or card game. =(
