Hello Readers! Finding real content to fill this small space with is so hard to find these days... Updates, assemble!

BYOND

BYOND has recently seen many bug fixes made to various sections of the software. Many of these fixes were made to the Webclient, as it has also seen many optimizations and feature improvements as BYOND 5.07 nears a public release, mostly to bring everyone up to date on bug and security fixes. Dream Daemon now accepts an -ip parameter which can be used to bind Dream Daemon to a specific IP address, and grids in Dream Seeker now support vertical alignment and the highlight-color parameter.

The sidescroller adventure game, Eureka, has received yet another graphical upgrade recently, this time being a full blown make-over and looking good. Recent accomplishments include a fully functioning on-screen inventory display, equipment, and a small portrait of the player which appears on screen, and changes appearance when the player changes clothes.

Manio has described two features that will be found in his multiplayer space station survivor, Event Horizon. There will be a wide variety of special suits that the engineers will be able to obtain, however, how they go about doing so is still up in the air. Manio also has described the three different game modes that have been planned, in addition to the normal game mode. They are Infestation, Hunt, and Ripley. The game is set to debut this month.

And, as development on Event Horizon winds down and prepares for release, Manio is moving right along into his next project, Satsujin Jigoku, a horror game where the player falls asleep in their apartment, then wakes up in a deserted Japanese ghost town. Sounds interesting.

Sigrogana Legend 2 has seen plenty of bug fixes, changes, and new features these past two weeks. The Bonder class has been added, a specialized summoner class. Stamina has been implemented. Woodcutting can now be accomplished by crafting an axe at a forge and using it on most trees. These are just a few bits, check out the change logs for full details.

DanteVFenris has posted a new video and had held open testing last weekend for Cursed Luck, an RPG currently in beta. Information on the social features of the game were shared. As summer nears, plans have been made to kick game development into over-drive, and complete the game by the seasons end.

Hedgemistress has been at work these past few weeks recreating the long referenced BYOND classic Hedgerow Hall. Information has been released on how magic is planned to work within the game, along with crafting and random events. Character creation has been laid out. Burrows are ready to be found, and the Hall has been made. The interface is ready, and communication difficulties have been noted. For new players, tips hint at how the many in-game systems work.

MDC has published information on the action fighting game EDO. Current accomplishments include the completion of the combat system, and goals have been set for the interface and fighting styles and techniques. Xyberman and Ter13 have been creating graphics using impressive techniques. More live streams and open testing has been planned.

By popular vote, Kumorii has open sourced Skirmish, then with more free time then he had anticipated, he rewrote and improved the enemy AI and created the ability for players to spectate other players, among a few other improvements.

Edit Nero has announced that the hub page for Universal Seas has been moved to a new web address. New events can be played, including capture the flag, and king of the flag.

JustinOreo has published Icon Chatters, a hangout for players to chat, share icons, and build their own world. The game also features an easy to use interface and the ability to share music.

Looking for pixel artists, Lavitiz has posted a status update for the sandbox RPG Harmony Online. Inffliction has moved away from the project, citing other commitments. The interface has been mostly redone, obtaining smoother transitions and better looks, and the website is currently under maintenance.

For lack of Better Name is a sidescroller that is currently in development. The latest report documents the addition of three game modes, Tag, Freeze tag, and Infection. More forms of game play are planned, and to allude to that, a slashing animation has been shared, suggesting the usage of swords. Flying and grounded NPCs have also been programmed.

Dance Of Shadows has changed hands, and has been developed by Avidanimefan. Updates have been on-going and the progress logs have been posted on the TIGForums. Recent updates include movable blocks, roleplaying/chat features, and new maps. Like the game on Facebook as well.

Dreadnaught Productions has published Demon Blade, an action adventure game that takes place in a world that has been dominated by demons and war. Players are given the choice to join between humans, elves, or demons, and customize their characters in both skills and looks. Keep an eye out for weekly updates.

Thanks for the mention!
Interesting...
Awesome! I'm glad to see so much game activity. You should be getting a lot more bug fixes and features soon as we bring the new stuff into stable release.
Nicely written. Always enjoy these. Almost made a post a day or two ago to try and get into this, but felt I didn't quite have enough to show for my words.

With the new one a little ways away, I'll go ahead and drop a general idea in. A new version of Final Resurrection: Redemption is currently in development, and it's more like a new game than a new version. I'm redesigning most of the game from scratch, with the only exception being a lot of art. Only some of it is being replaced.

So far I've been working hard to offer a very detailed, responsive, and proper interface/GUI (which is going very well), character creation is somewhat mapped out, and I am in the middle of working on melee combat. Numerous other things are planned.

Expect posts, gifs, and maybe even video posted in game updates in the future. Hoping to get some up by no later than Within BYOND #16, but no promises.
Woo, stuff is happenin'
MCD? Think you mean MDC.
Also, how did I not know about Eureka? That game looks tippy top.

Oh, alright. Makes sense
makes sense?
I would love to see many more on the next within that isn't already in current production. It's a nice new year of spring and it's about time to blossom some minor and major creations. =]

I don't speak of the past much, but in a community I was in years ago I get really into the spirit of world weaving, even if it was just a simple mini-game, game engine, or simply a short story. Anyways, it was a fun times that our little group was holding little 24hour or weekend contests which was really fun. I wonder if there will be something like that discussed within the within if any of y'all guys still do such things. Though I'll stop talking about the old community I was in. While it was fun, they're not very open to new potential members as much older community do, which they think could spoil the broth to a slowly stagnating establishment. Hopefully byond is far from that.
Oh man These withins happen fast. I probably will not have anything for a while. Maybe just be secluded again and not share anything until release. Even though I love to squel on about my plans.

Though I was really happy when I saw all the people play my game last weekend. Even some of the developers on here so I thank you guys for that. Any developer on here wants me to try out their product im more than willig to. Also I've noted some of the faults and ive thought of some design decisions that should turn my weaknesses into something creative and fun.

And thanks for this I appreciate this.

Skirmish eye candy: I've been making the visual effects a little better. (:
Hello, just stopping by to let all you know that I am returning to development on Rice as of today.

I should have something interesting to show you guys soon :)
The process it took to create a guild HUD button for Eureka.

I mainly saved this to show Kozuma3, since he is learning to pixel art, but thought some other people might benefit from seeing a design get hammered out from start to finish, since in art, usually only the final result is ever seen.

Notice the 50% grey background I am drawing on, that is so that I get an unbiased idea of the contrast each tone has.

Drawing on a white background will make you think tones are much darker than what they really are and a black background will do the opposite.
that guild button tho
