A fresh install of Ubuntu 9.04 is reported to be taking up 8.5 gb's of space, or, the entire partition I put it on, any ideas what might have caused this? I used ext2 format.
I would suggest posting on http://www.ubuntuforums.org/
As FlameSage suggested, the Ubuntu forums are a better place to ask this question, but that does seem odd. Ubuntu is conservative with disk space compared to its current competition in my experience, so 8GB does seem unusual.
I must have installed it wrong. I'm just going to delete the partition and start over again tomorrow.

What you may be experiencing:
When you view the partition in Windows, because it can't read ext3 or ext4, it'll show the entire disk being full.
Check in Ubuntu itself for file size usage.

Actually I can't see the partition at all in windows, its Ubuntu thats telling me its full. I really appreciate you trying to help though. This is my first shot with linux so I'm a tad bit lost here.

EDIT: Reinstallation seems to have fixed whatever I messed up the first time.
