Hello i got Windows server 2003 in my server and i want to install Ubuntu or Fedora and i found UNetbootin http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/ and i was wondering if i use this to install My Linux would it wipe and of my files at all because i want to keep it and have the Linux in it to or a software that will do that.
You can either dual boot, which Ubuntu is very good at during install, or you could try Ubuntu in a virtual machine like VirtualBox(free) inside of Windows 2003.

You could also do the "Wubi" installer version of Ubuntu which allows you to install Ubuntu on a virtual disk inside of Windows, but it boots into its own full OS. The advantage of this is that you don't have to touch the partitions and you take basically no speed hit, as the only thing virtualized is the hdd.

My personal experience with Wubi has been excellent. Just as good as a full install.

Every time i do wubi it goes in but when i choose ubuntu it installs then when it reloads it goes to the unbuntu thing then it stops and a black screen appears saying blah blah type help for further commands

I'm guessing it says that because you did not do a clean shutdown
when installing through wubi the files that ubuntu needs to boot from are inside of windows
and since it shut down improperly it can't access them

you can solve this by shutting down the right way
and if that doesn't help
install ubuntu to a partition
which can be done with an ubuntu install cd
or any other physical thing ubuntu can be installed from

EX: Dvd,Flash Drive,Floppy disk
