As it stands I have noticed the birth and fall of many people claiming to be in the works of making a Star Trek game and being the Star Trek nut that I am I have started working on a side project in hopes of creating a sort of RP type Star Trek game using more current ranking such as Voyager rather then older running versions.
While the game will be heavy on text based because of the fact it is RP I do plan on making a full layout of a ship and so long as I can some how get the icons needed I will make a ship that can be walked deck by deck or atleast in major areas as well as some planets and starbases with missions among other things.
Basic idea of what I plan on doing is creating a few ships to start along with a few planets and maybe one or two starbases once a user is dropped into the world they will be a cadet fresh to starfleet where they will study skills and pass tests until they manage to get a job on a ship to start most ships will hire random people until they build up ranks via away missions and ship based missions until one person is handed captain of the ship from there they will be able to hire and fire any crew they want so long as there is a vaild reason RP wise.
There will be a strick rank based command and as the game progresses each user will work up the in ranks not everyone will get captain but with any luck as the game progresses and I get icons I will make other races as well as more details at some point captains will be handed missions from starfleet where they will fly to other zones battle in space at some point and make away missions to planets and what not.
Its going to be a VERY long project being a single coder but so long as I can get the icons in order I think its safe to say there wont be much limits on what will happen with the game.
Im hoping that at some point the game will have a group of random races and leaders that will manage peace between the respected races while fighting npc races such as the borg and creating a large scale RP type star trek game with a ranking.
If anyone wants to help feel free to look below at the end of this page for contact details. I dont really need coders at this point in time because I can do most if not all of the coding myself its mostly icons that will be the pain I have made some stupid shapes as place holders for icons and have already started coding.
I will no doubt have a working simi demo of the starting systems within id say a few weeks here im not even sure where to start there is such a large amount of possible things to code. From weapons to scanners to computers. Ill no doubt start with a transport system and make a place holder for a ship or maybe a holo deck for training... I have no idea at this point it will come together as it moves along but the project wont get off the ground without some icon help.

If it makes you feel any better, the lack of interest could come more from your choice of content than the work you're doing. The project demands players who enjoy both Star Trek and fangames. I'm not sure how much crossover you'll find locally. Even less will offer any feedback.
I suggest using the blog and forum that your BYOND membership grants you. They might serve you better than Dream Makers' Community forum. Plus, they'd probably make better links to pass around in Star Trek communities. |

Fair enough I wasnt going to make many more posts no doubt a few more then from there id move it to another area if anyone showed interest and if not id just keep working on it until I had a sort of demo. An I understand the fact that a number of people might not play it because it is a fan game but it would also fall under a space based game so I was hoping to have a bit of interest but none the less ill keep at it.

This system is taking a bit longer then most for the simple fact of how detailed it is and it be nice to get some sort of help or atleast have someone to feed input to and get some sort of input back but with no one having interest it will make it hard to do such a thing.
Anyway I will keep working at it before I can go on much more I will need to create a interface for the computers and some predefined database and layout coming up with such a thing is going to be a bit outside the box for star trek as far as things go.
Mostly because on all the shows the computer panels themselfs all use numbers for navigation of any sort none of the buttons seem to have predefined text only numbers so in order to make the game user friendly I will need to break away from that and create a text interface and come up with as close of an original setup as I can.
However it seems like a nearly pointless to have an original setup close to the shows for the simple fact there is no way to see the database itself in action or to know the layout of every station all I can really do it play around with it until I get the setup im looking for.
I will keep making updated posts every now an then until the project dies from lack of interest or until it takes off and the project is moved to its own website or forums. Moving forth without any icons while is possible its going to become much harder however as I said in my last post. Im creating temp icons in place of more original however it will become harder to understand the layout of anything if I keep up at this pace seeing as all the temp icons are just colored blocks :P!
