A lot of the story line gets a bit contradicting.
It did spark though, and is one of the greatest Action Animes.
Dragonall was the greatest of all 3 Series.
Once Dragonball Z hit, no one was important anymore except Goku.
No matter what anyone in the series did, it involved Goku someway. Plus, he gained a massive super boost out of nowhere.

I see late DBZ and all of DB:GT as suffering from the same self-destruct mechanism as the Matrix trilogy in some respects. Once you develop a walking Deus Ex Machina, where do you go from there? DBZ and the later series just seemed to solve that by tacking on more and more zeroes onto PL. Fights and enemies became ever more bombastic than the last and the creators didn't seem to realize when to put the series down.
