Well, I am trying to set up a static IP, but when I go into the cmdand type ipconfig/all it only shows one DNS Server address, so I can't put an alternate. Is there any way to find the alternate one?

If you're talking about what I think you're talking about, the alternate field is optional, you don't have to fill it out. Just fill out the preferred.

you add the dns server in the same place you enter the static ip (in win 7, control panel > network and sharing center > change adapter settings > right click adapter and click properties.
However, a lot of modern routers allow you to specify dns servers (sometimes under dhcp settings). Check there, would be easier than assigning static dns servers per computer. |
