Who would you consider/recommend/nomiate some of the more creative minds in the BYOND community?

The main reason I ask is becuase I can develop gaming concepts no problem, but when it comes to writing, I get the basics AKA the "Storyline Bible" down but not really anything to transition the story flawlessly or make everything meet up. So I can just create the bare bones of it, but not really give it any organs, tissue, etc

Another reason I am asking is becuase I would love to have a couple of a people to "spit-ball" with as far as brainstorming, bouncing ideas with, or storyline concepts.

I would also like to offer myself as an individual to do this with as well. So if you need to brainstorm with anybody, let me know! My contact is available on my BYONDpage.

What sort of writing are you talking about exactly? Storylines or quests for games, character or plot development, or something more like traditional fiction?

What I'm personally having trouble with is storylines, character and plot development. I could care less about traditional fiction -- I'm taking everything in the sense of making a BYOND game.

I think I'm pretty decent with characters that will be in it for the long haul, but before coming up with characters you need a setting, and having some idea what to do with them can't hurt. To me it's important to have the setting first because while you can draw characters from archetypes, what they are has a lot to do with where they are.

Storylines are a little trickier in that a good plot takes discipline as a writer, and an excellent plot (or one that makes use of a great many details, like in a mystery) takes even more. But I guess it depends on what you want to accomplish. I'm not really sold on scripted games as a great storytelling medium; they can be fun but to me the best stories come out of games like Dwarf Fortress or Nethack, where the setting is rich enough to generate epic tales.

That's exactly what I was looking for. I have a couple of projects that I'm working on and I would love to bounce some ideas around with you.

I do get the setting, the characters, their background-ish set up, but other than that I get lost and I have a hard time weaving it all together.

Any other creative BYOND minds that you think could think of? I think we have a defined set of programmers/pixel artists, but not many game designers or story writers come to mind off the top of my head.

Sounds fine to me.

I'm way better at the setup than plot work myself, but I think a good story can be put together with work.

I know of some creative folks but none that are really around now.
