Ive seen some really cool apps on the itunes store that you could use for on the go art.So i wanted to review them. Ratings go from 1(lowest) to 5(highest) stars. There are ratings by reading comments and descriptions, or ratings from usage.

--------------------------------------------------
Paintbook 2.5-$4.99
seems to be a sort of photoshop like app but not as good as the real thing of course. Its limit is either 1000*1000 or 2000*2000 pixels, and it seems to be missing an eyedropper tool.

Rating from first glance(* * *)
--------------------------------------
Strings!-$1.99
This could be used for some kind of skin background because it looks like it makes some pretty nice patterns. It doesnt seem too customizablle though and you actually have to manually screenshot it.

Rating from first glance(* 1/2)
--------------------------------------
Tinypixels-$1.99
This seems to be an amazing app from first glance. You can make icons from 32 by 32 to 300 by 300 which isnt that large, but it seems to have many of the side selection features paint has. You can save your image as a jpeg or email to yourself as either png or jpeg. The only thing is, this looks better than it is. It doesnt give you the amount of pixels you are drawing for x and y, and the odd way the zoom function works makes it annoying. Still, the best one available for this kind of thing.

Rating After Use(* * * *)
--------------------------------------
32X32-$.99
In this app you can make greyscale 32 by 32 icons. This is a disadvantage because you cant really make them that easily. The advantage is a nice save system set up that can allow you to quickly access them, and there looks like there is some kind of cool crosshair system where you can line it up before placing the color in the pixel spot so that you wont make mistakes easily.

Rating from first glance(* * 1/2)
------------------------------------
Fragmental Storm - Web "Cut Up" Browser-$.99
This looks like a pretty neat app where you can search a word and it generates some kind of collage with the word. The only thing is, I can't think up of that much use for it. Maybe you could have some kind of poster somewhere in a game and shrink it down? Also looks like you would have to take a screenshot.

Rating from first glance(*)
-----------------------------------
PhiLia 01-$1.99
This looks like an amazing pattern app. You could really use designs in this for a skin, or maybe like suggested earlier, posters in a skin. Seems fun too!

Rating from first glance(* * * 1/2)
--------------------------------------
Paint-$.99
Seems like the typical fake doodling application. Low quality, and just for fun. You can color in coloring book pages and there are a few already made items you can place.

Rating from first glance(*)
--------------------------------------
DoodleBuddy-Free
Doesn't really seem any better than the paint app, has some smiley faces and things like that, but not worth it.

Rating after use(*)
-------------------------------------
myPixelArt-$1.99
Basically a portable lite brite system.

Rating after use(1/2)
--------------------------------------
Vellum-$1.99
Saves most recent image and you use graphite to make sketches. Could be used like how professionals make rough draft sketches before they start working on the real thing. But, a very, very rough draft....

Rating from first glance(* 1/2)
----------------------------------
Easy Sketch-$.99
Seems like the real thing sketcher. The only issue is the developers decided to have the canvas be a soft grey color, not so good when you are doing shades. The images look really nice but I'm wondering if you can actually come out with work like that unless your a proffessional and spend many hours redoing them.

Rating from first glance(* * 1/2)
---------------------------------
Musophobia-$?.??

There looks to be many different things that you can do with this app. It looks like some kind of photoshop thing. (may update this later when I sync my Ipod)
The effects are really cool and I guess you have to use your imagination on what you'd use it for.

Rating from first glance(* * * 1/2)
---------------------------------------
Orbit art-$.99
Seems almost more like a game than an art program, you make sort of slinky designs and the description sounds like a game.

Rating from first glance(* *)
--------------------------------------------
Serene-$.99
This seems like a really cool app with a sort of photoshop recoloring feature but possibly more in depth. I saw, cited from and credit to http://www.macworld.com/appguide/ app.html?id=319048&expand=false , ** Serene is not an image effect app for photograph enhancement **

Rating from first glance(* * * 1/2)
----------------------------------------------
iGlass 3D-$.99
This app looks like you can make some really nice glass art on it. It would be great for any games with winter things with dreammaker if you just screenshoted it, moved it to DM changed the transparency level of the objects. The only thing is, im not sure if you can make the background plain black.(although there is a pic with it black and a picture app so yeah)
Rating from first glance(* * * *)
-----------------------------------------------
Spirodoodle-$.99
In this app you make circle colored designs.
I have to say the pictures in this app dont look too attracting, but I'm sure a user could make a nicer color combination than some of them on the page. Even if it was say some gemstone in the middle of a monsters' stomach, this could make something pretty nice like that. Or a window in a fancy building if shrank down to 32 by 32 too.

Rating from first glance(* * *)
-----------------------------------------------
Spirowave-$.99
Looks pretty neat but I think you would have to screenshot instead of hitting a save button. What you basically do is manipulate white pattern designs on a black background.

Rating from first glance(*)
-----------------------------------------------
Artisan-$.99
This definatly looks worth its value. Some really nice colorful pattern images can be created on here and definalty could be used on a skin. You can save them too and there are a couple of different selection types.

Rating from first glance(* * *)
---------------------------------------------------
Animation Creator-$.99
While it doesn't seem to perfectly fit the category, it looks like a fun app, and you could test your animated pixel art on the go with this app.

Rating from first glance(I dont really want to rate this its not exacly related to the topic but seemed worth mentioning)

Hope you enjoyed the guide. If you have any ratings of your own or any suggestions, post them below! Or talk to me on Byond pager, Darkjohn66.

Note:These ratings are based on whether the app is efficiant to create art which byond users could utuilize in some way. It does not necesarily mean that the app isnt entertaining.

"rating from first glance" means you probably shouldn't call these reviews

it's more like a list of apps

Gah i attempted Pixel art on my iPhone but if i carried on with it i would have pulled out my hair, Definitely not a personal recommendation lol But hey, alot of artists prefer it, i know a few guys who bought software for there DS to do there art and they are very good.
In response to Chris-g1
Doing pixel art on the iTouch probably wouldn't be too bad if you bought a stylus; thinkgeek.com has a working iTouch/iPhone stylus (the only one for the iPhone that I know of; the iPhone's touch screen uses electrons, rather than pressure).
In response to Jeff8500
I did think of a good method you could use. If you are having trouble actually outlining everything, you could make it in paint and open it up on TinyPixels.

If you guys want I also am thinking about rallying support for byond to add a checker to see how many x and y pixels you are increasing or decreasing when you draw a line. A grid function would also be nice!

Basically TinyPixels and Musophobia seem to be some of the best programs. I will test out more. Definatly will get an amazon link up here for you guys in a few mins for styluses, ill get one if I can.

Hard to judge when the "good ones" only have 1 good rating i mean that could be a person related to the creator...

The one with the best ratings has a tip like an average sharpened pencil from reviews....maybe somebody can help find one for pixel art? ill look again tommorow
