Is there ANYONE out there interested in creating isometric games?

I have yet to see any other than minuscule demos. I have been looking for some people to help with designing a game (especially an artist) that will hopefully be the first successful isometric game on BYOND, but I have had no responses.

I have much of the groundwork completed for a game I am working on that will be iso, but I definitely will need help on it.

Was implementing isometric games a complete waste of time for the BYOND staff?
Produce a playable demo, then try recruiting artists.
I have made a full isometric game with BYOND.
Never released it around here because it was not meant for the BYOND community to play.

But, isometric mode wasn't really a waste of time. It just allows people to make their game look and feel different, if they want to.

Just because a game is made with BYOND, does not mean it is made for the community of BYOND.

The game included various inside jokes, references and a general sense of humor people in the BYOND community simply would not understand.
So I never released it to them to play.

Just like the current game I am working on may not be released for the general BYOND community to play. Because it is being made for other people, BYOND probably does not know what significance AROOJIBROW, SHAKEY BRAKEY and GET OUT OF HERE.
I'd rather not have people ruin the experience for those people that do understand this.
I created a small sandbox game. I never publicly announced it though, since it's unfinished.

I'm sure people are making games that are using the isometric feature, it just takes time.

Haha, maybe that is the only thing isometric is good for.

The game I made is a sandbox game too, was not originally isometric, but once isometric mode was released I converted it all to isometric mode.

(You wont be able to run it without the correct libraries, which I forget)
But yeah, does isometric mode inspire that sort of game or something?

If anyone wants to see the demo, just let me know. The game is at least playable right now.

Why even ask? Of course put it up. =)

I'll be hosting it tomorrow afternoon, just add me to your pager. Just be prepared for some horrible graphics, I am very bad lol.

I would disagree. It's great for showing different levels, through pixel_z

I personally believe my pseudo-water simulator looks neat versus a side-scrolling simulator.

I'll check it out.
I intend to do some isometric stuff at some point in the future*. Specifically, I intend to write another isometric roguelike in the vein of Ruin, except this time using underlying iso support rather than my own implementation, and this time actually a good game. Hopefully.

I also intend to do a sort of Final-Fantasy Tactics Advance game at some point.

*I.E., when I get off my arse and get myself motivated.

This would be awesome, especially if it will be multi-player.
Working on a short isometric horror game now (working title: Insidium).

Iso mode is pretty neat actually, even if I just have a red dot running around in a maze as a testing environment.

I would like to see a game similar to a game called Tactics Arena. It is an isometric chess game but with things like wizards and knights.

Its not a waste of time, it just takes a lot longer to produce an isometric game that looks good. You can only really do one of two types of games with Isometric, a puzzler or a Role Playing game (either a Tactical game which involves elevation, or an adventure-type RPG like the screen shot someone posted).

Edit: I would have had one released by now, but for personal reasons I haven't had a lot of development time on my hands lately, and I have to work on my main games when I do. I still have one half complete Isometric game, based on the Berlin Wall, not yet ready for demoing or release.

It would seem that strategy is also perfectly acceptable.
I'm working ona isometric bleach game currently got some having some minor holdoffs but still iso is fun to work with

I'd say pretty much any game currently on BYOND would work just as well in ISO with little-to-no redesign required.
I think a game like REO would look and play really well from an isometric perspective, for example. Just picture zombies filling the halls in that screen shot posted above - with a more REO styled graphic set.
