Good feedback, thank you. I've actually got quite a musical background, 7 years in choir and I've played guitar for almost 10 years, but I've never really messed around with composition of entire songs before.

I don't know what to say about it - there are a couple instances where I think this would be a decent background song mixed with some other ambient sounds. I was playing Paper Mario a couple of weeks ago and this song reminded me of when you speak with the elder stars.
However, as a song in general, it lacks composition and progression. A song can be made with one instrument with large amounts of articulation so that the song doesn't sound the same throughout. In this, there are two instruments, the piano and two chords within the synthetic strings, and a variation at the end. The piano sounds nothing more than filler; I don't hear any verse, chorus, hook, etc. and the strings sound awkward with the notes on B and C half the time.
Here are some tips for you: Start with the chords and find a nice progression, I recommend using this website: http://www.hotfrets.com/songanator.asp as it is VERY useful for getting the feeling of a song. Screw around with the tempo, and only then would I suggest messing with the lead to make it sound more interesting.
Also, GET SOME DRUMS IN THERE!!!
