Who is Heracy and why are you calling for him? ;-P
Doom 3 is the LIFE BLOOD OF ALL SHOOTERS! The shooter genre died long ago. All that remains is an endless series of boring, uninspiring clones, and Doom 3 is one of them. The game only exists to show off the engine, and to satisfy Carmack's desire to revisit the same old boring story YET AGAIN. *snore* If Carmack wasn't held in such unthinking awe by his company and by gamers, Doom 3 (the game) wouldn't exist. And for good reason. |
Really? I thought Half-Life 2 was innovative (well, not really, but it put gravity to its bes yett), and Portal looks pretty damn good. I wouldn't say the shooting genre died, especially with the Wii coming out.
Innovation FTW! |
The most "innovated" First Person Shooter in awhile is probably Prey. Which uses a Doom 3 modified Engine. (Prey just made portals a lot more intresting pretty much.)

Half-Life 2 and Prey are notable exceptions. :-)
Note that I'm talking about Doom 3 the game, not Doom 3 the engine. Doom 3's engine is actually pretty good (though, like all game engines, it has its quirks). |
You poor baby. :-P
