Seriously. What is with having to unlock all the damn features? I thought I already bought the game. It doesn't help that the Chronicle mode is incredibly tedious (think Warcraft without the unit variety, resource management, and long load times. Oh, and you have to fight bosses in a Soul Calibur battle....). The create a fighter is very meh and reminded me alot of the Sims.

Fighting in SC3 is ridiculous. Some characters are blatantly better than others and the AI is alternately horribly frustrating or just horrible (IE will just stand there or falls for a repeated move pattern). Despite a very complex fighting engine, ring outs continue to trump strategy, and several characters have quick attacks/juggles that can knock opponents out of the undersized rings with little effort.

On the upside, the graphics are quite pretty (although the amount of jiggling on the females is laughably overdone).
SC2 is better.

Yea, but gameplay > graphics. So I guess it is a pretty bad game. As for the jiggling, well I'm just fine with that.
It's the PS2's problem. The Gamecube and XBox versions of Soul Calibur 2 were better, and I believe they also sold more.

Plus, that Chronicles of the Sword thing is a waste of time.
Dreamcast = best system ever.

Soul Calibur for Dreamcast = best fighting game ever.

I haven't played SC3 yet... but I definitely preferred SC1 over 2.
SilkWizard:Yeah, Dreamcast SC was excellent, and probably my favorite game in the franchise.

Vex: CotS sucks BIG TIME.

It seems like they lost sight of what the game was (IE a solid fighting game with a deep combat system) and instead focused on adding crap nobody wanted.

that simply is not true. It can never be overdone...unless you're a femenist!!!!!
If you're playing the US version, I heard that the game was shipped with bugged AI. Be careful with your saves, because apparantly they easily corrupt as well.
They can currupt easily by deleting files older than the game's first save date.

Also, I never could defeat the final boss on chronicles, too many damn people to beat beforehand.

i beat it...with my Ninja :P

I disagree- Real ones just don't jiggle *that much*. Seriously, Taki flops around if you barely even walk into her sprite! I also preferred the trimmer Taki- looks more sleek and ninja-like. Better to sneak up and kill you! Now, Ivy OTOH; I am not usually into ogling video game characters, but wow.....

Actually, I am really glad they didn't apply the "flop tech" to the males with tight pants. That would have been really gross. Hilarious, but vomit inducing.
