I've gotten game developer interviews just based on the two apps I have on my resume.

Is one of those "apps" a BYOND application (you only mentioned one with Construct 2)? If so, link to the hub please.

The two apps are made in Construct 2, I removed all of my BYOND hubs a couple years ago.

Tower20 however could've been made in an afternoon in BYOND so the engine is highly irrelevant here. If I can get people to think I'm a skilled developer with a game made with a drag and drop engine, I'm sure people like Yut and Oasis for example, who have done far more than I have, can impress people.

I've even gotten industry connections just by telling people how experienced I am in Dota 2. Like literally the co-founder of GamersFirst got excited after I told him I knew Dota 2 inside and out and asked for my LinkedIn page. He had me work on a short project for Swapdom Gaming ( it's a fast growing website that players in Dota 2 can use to trade items efficiently ) improving the customer service support and their advertising on Twitch. About a week later, their customer service support was up and running and they executed their Twitch ads exactly the way I told them to and now their site is gaining popularity very quickly.

Bear in mind, I have no degrees, no advertising experience, nothing. Just a 1 year certificate "web developer" where I learned absolutely nothing ( I literally learned more about web design within 3 minutes of Codecademy than 1 year in a web development course ). But I got hired on and gained 2 major industry connections for a position that said I needed a minimum of 1 or 2 years of advertising and social media experience and blah blah blah all because I knew what to say and how to say it.

You gotta learn how to work the system, bros. It's not about the hand you're dealt, it's about how you play it, bros. Put your BYOND experience on your resume and sell yourself. Just because you don't think your projects on BYOND are great accomplishments doesn't mean someone else won't.
When I joined BYOND Flash was switching from AS2 to AS3 and I hated the new OOP-based method of programming... which, ironically, is what BYOND uses anyway. I was around ~15 and hadn't even started my first job.

Now I'm married and have my first son. Crazy how fast time flies.

Creep. :)

Jokes aside, congrats Unwanted4Murder.
While this key has only been around for ~10 years, I've actually been on BYOND since 2003, so 12 years here. Do I feel old? I have a soon-to-be 11 month old son, so you tell me.
11 years come May. When my 10 year BYOND anniversary hit I just won my first gold medal in a culinary competition; BYOND was the last thing on my mind.

Pictures of the dish you made in the culinary competition and the recipe, along with the gold medal you earned, or none of it ever happened.

Also if you could provide a screenshot of your mind so we can confirm BYOND was the last thing on it, that would be fantastic as well.
Now F0lak wins culinary competitions instead of singing to me in the middle of the night on MSN messenger.

here you are
It will be 12 years for me next month. Time sure does fly by. I'm almost three decades old, which isn't too old, but it definitely feels old compared to how old I was when I first joined BYOND.
