This probably belongs in the announcement section but...
Im making a game, im a demi-N00B and i'd like to see what you 0ldBz think...
Byond recognition a fast paced team based Sci-Fi arena game,
Set with a MUD system (no clumsy GFX here!) using some short(-ish) coding, at the moment i've settled upon two classes for the ALPHA test - Civilian and Marine, Civilian being the master of Psygic powers (psycic majik) and the marine excellent at weapon combat, it includes an extencive chat system (well not that big i suppose, the way ive coded it allows players to create there own guilds and guild halls that only there members may enter, guilds choose who fights in battles and may perform 'dummy' training fights amoung themselves, each player also has there own room, this is where they go to AFK and rest, it also has a locker and an update/save 'computer', when a player starts a duel a unique arena is created from there specifications, it is uniquely named so no accidents happen, there is a range system built in which allows players to duck and dive behind scenery chosen by the duellest who started the duel and get up close with his pistol or run back and let rip with his pulse cannon.

This game is coming along nicely and almost all aspects are planned out, I NEED GM'S! so if you are interested just say! :P
Thanks for your time

I think too many people who use leetspeak draw breath. That is, any.

I think "noob", the derogatory form of "newbie" that invariably conflates newbies with second-class people, is a term beneath contempt and reflects badly on the person who uses it.

I think "oldbie" sounds silly, even when spelled correctly.

It sounds like you have a concrete list of items to accomplish, and while it's ambitious for a newcomer, it seems much more achievable than what people usually dream up for their first game.

So it's a good start. I wouldn't worry about GMs for a while -- get the first pass at the game done, play-test it a lot, improve it, consider recoding it as you learn more about how to use the system, *then* start to worry about GMs and the like. And while you are at it, consider the advice of some of the more experienced people around here that GMs are nothing but a hassle, and the best approach is just to give game hosts a few admin powers and skip the whole GM thing.

Huzzah!
Praise from Deadron!,
N00b??
its like a title to us!, like sir or lord...
Its all we novice coders hold to our name and its very widespread, N00B nooB, NewB Bnoob are just a few! To cast away the title of Oldbie given to you by us - the beginners,
N00B meaning 2nd class coder?, aye that is a sad tale of how the word has been debased to serve the evil - coder tounge but remember - Like all titles N00B can be outgrown and isn't that really what we should look to?

"Noob" was a term invented by people who look at being a newbie as having zero right to respect, like a social ladder. "Newbie" I'm fine with, but I have no truck with "noob", nor its leetspeak illegitimate cousin.

Nope, Announcements isn't postable. It's only for official news like new releases.

You do realize how annoying that is?

Set with a MUD system (no clumsy GFX here!)

If you want to try scrounging up some tips for telnet compatable MUDs using BYOND, you can try scrounging tips off this mostly dead forum: http://www.nadrew.com/MUDdesign/. Actually, people still post there about once every other day, but it's not very active. Especially with BYOND's MUDer population being nearly nil.
