No. They are PNG files internally.

BYOND or bound? The .dmi format is just a .png with comments on it, you can import images into the .dmi format.(Falaxy even has a sprite sheet converter)

Oops lol did miss type BYOND is what I ment to say. Was unsure if they had to be made with DM software.
