My mothers Boyfriend, decided a couple months ago, that he needed a new computer. So he goes to the apple store, and asks for the best. He gets a Dual Core, Liquid Cooled, G5. I found out a couple days ago, he uses it for surfing the internet, and reading his email.

What a dumbass. I bet he thinks hes a 1337 hax0r too, right?
|
That G5 is actually the only computer that's come standard with liquid cooling. And then you think about it, the G5 requires liquid cooling when the Core 2 Duo is faster and has air cooling standard (No problems on a Core 2 Duo on air).
'Tis retarded. G5 is one hell of a waste of a processor. =\ There aren't any "big" games for the Mac either. I can't think of anything for Macs that needs a processor that powerful. |
Right Shadow, but I haven't heard of 3d modelling programs for the Mac. And, something like Image Rendering taxes the GPU more than the CPU, doesn't it?
|
Yes, but the CPU will start to bottleneck the GPU. It also good to have for encoding movies. It also common for Game designers to use Macs over a windows machine.(It's much easier to develop on.) It could also make things complie faster I guess. I just look at more of a business PC.

There aren't any "big" games for the Mac either. I can't think of anything for Macs that needs a processor that powerful. World of Warcraft. Halo. Age of Empires III. Oblivion is coming soon. The G5 was pretty ridiculous in terms of heat output. The new Mac Pros with the intel processors are freaking crazy though! |
Right Shadow, but I haven't heard of 3d modelling programs for the Mac. A lot of professional 3-D Animators use Macs. |
