I was wondering if there's a way to save the contents of a world map when you delete it and have it put everything back where it was when it's loaded again. I thought I say something about it in the blue book they have on the internet, but it didn't explain how to do it.

1. Don't bump. The general rule of thumb is if the thread has had no replies for 24 hours AND it's off the first page, then you can bump it. Otherwise, don't; it just clutters up the forums and wastes everyone else's time.
2. When the game is stopped (world/Del()), save all the mobs and objs in the world to a savefile. Don't save actual turfs and areas, as that makes the savefile waaaay too big; just save the type of the turf, and any vars you want to keep. Do the same for areas (if you're not using areas for anything, don't bother saving them). Then load the savefile in world/New(). It can be annoying to get working, but it can be (and has been) done. If you need help with savefiles, Deadron has a good savefile tutorial on his website. Actually, forget that last paragraph. =P Now that I think of it, you could use SwapMaps. I've never used it myself, but I plan to in the near future and I've heard good things about it. |
(The thing I need help on is the first thing in the list, but you knew that)
