Hosting

I am having a problem hosting, I am behind a wire-less router it is a NETGEAR. No one can connect to me it just gives them connection failed. I dont know what do to in terms of port fowarding and such cuz i've tried that. Any suggestions on how to get it to work?

What I mean is that I have tried fowarding the port but that shows no success. People will still get a Connection Failed message. I have no fire-wall on my pc and disabled the XP one. ALso I have disabled the firewall on my router. DMZ server is applicable, should I enable that on my router settings? Other than that I don't know what to do so if you know anything that can help thanks.

on my router i have the dmz and i have a firewall not xp one and i can host on port 1257 and people join fine.
