Hello, does anyone here know of a demo that uses a battle system like that of FF? I'm wanting to implement a FF style battle system in my game, but I really have no clue where to start, and I know that its a long drawn out process. Thanks for your time.

Try searching the demos for "Random Combat" I think I saw something similar to a Final Fantasy Style battle system in there.

I got the one by satanspawn but it wasn't quite what I needed.

Then keep searching.

Sigh, listen havenmaster, this will be good to remember in the future as well, if you aren't any help the first time around, do not come back around restating the same thing that did nothing the first time. Now, back on topic, anyone?

And this will be good for you to remember: when people give you help, don't come back and say it doesn't work when it does. He's entirely correct. If you didn't find what you are looking for, then it's either not there or you didn't look hard enough. In the first case, you'll have to start designing it yourself. I doubt anyone here will make a battle system for you. In the second case, see Haven's post. |

Well of COURSE it's not quite what you needed. Nobody has EXACTLY what you need. You have to make it yourself. If you're willing to learn, I can explain how you would do the basics, and then you can take it from there. However, I would need more of a description of "A Final Fantasy battle system", especially considering that there are between 11 and 14 of them, depending on which ones you count. Describe what you want, and if you ever mention any game in your description, I won't accept it. The compiler won't understand "Okay, you know, like how it was in Final Fantasy 7".

Now, back on topic, anyone? If I'm not helpful enough the first time around the receiver of the help is not intelligent enough to use the help correctly. So, maybe if I restate myself I can pound the help into your brain. And my post was completley on topic. No one is going to write a battle system for you, so either search the hub or try it yourself. |

Sigh, I never said I wanted ANYONE to make a battle system for me. Second, yes, maybe its me and I just do not have the intelligence to find what I am looking for, even if it actually does NOT exist in the hub. When I stated I could not find it earlier, he did not have to state to look again, because quite honestly, I have enough sense to know to look again, so back off both of you. This post is dead anyway, so leave it at this.

Lol, I'm wanting to learn how to do a FF3 Style System, with the boxes on the bottom that display your health and your mp and have the commands and also when the characters attack, the weapon they are using appears in front of them like they swing it or so. I know it will take some time to learn and do, and I know there isn't a demo out there that is exactly what I need, but I was kinda hoping to find one that seemed to be close enough that I could modify to be what I want.

I'm gonna take a stab at this, hope you don't mind (because i'm confused as hello...about how I would go about this)
I personally am wanting to create a battle system that encompases both turn based back and forth attacking, but also movement. so you can move your character around the random battle field map (a small one, screen size), and the attack type of your character (long-range/hand-to-hand) dictates any actual "combat". I've been trying to figure this out in my head, because I havn't gotten to combat quite yet, but just thinking about gets me confused. Any pointing in the right direction would be appriciated. ~Cryptic |

Hahaha, If I called it a FF2 or FF5 based battle system or even an FF1 would you change your mind? They are practically the same thing in my opinion. =x
