When the announcement read that we have to upload our games to other web servers to make BYOND faster, how do we do that? I don't really understand the mechanics of networking and servers so could someone please explain this to me? Do you have to pay money to have space on an online server?

Generally, yes, you do have to pay money to have space on a web server. However, there may still be free solutions available. Also, if your ISP permits it, it's possible to host your OWN webserver from your own computer, although that's usually not feasible for most people.

Also, on occasion, ISP accounts come with a few megabytes of free web space. Check to see if your ISP has a similar offer for you to take advantage of.

Geocities? Hah. They make it a job to delete your zip files. Besides, they probably have something set up that checks HTTP_REFERER to make sure it's from a geocities page before allowing the download of images and zip files.
