I suggest you get Zilal's beginner tutorial. When you are first learning, you should try to learn more about DM syntax, variables, and functions and worry less about code design philosophy. Many people make the error of thinking that they need to learn how to make an attack system, an AI system, or something else; but they should really be learning how code works, after which they would be able to make whatever they wanted and not be limited by knowledge of a few obscure functions.
